Pre-ordered mine about a month ago to get the special Saga DVD. I've never got into a big online game before (FPS just aren't my thing) but I'm thinking this will be the one not to mention the TONS of other things you get and it's CHEAPER than a normal PS2 game to boot. This thing is packed to the core with new features spanning 3 DVD's!

It's already been out in Japan and has gotten EXCELLENT reviews so far for the online play. Not to mention some of the US game magazines have gotten a trial run at it and are saying the exact same thing.

Release date is the 14th of this month (March).

I give it to MGS for pioneering the spy-sneak-around-don't-kill-genre, but I've actually never been a fan. I had more fun with Splinter Cell.

Should be kick ass regardless :) My roomie has a pre-order goin though.

I'd get it if I was not broke and had a project that is going to require my time from 3pm till 11 for a few weeks. I'll get it in April, maybe.

Remember guys it's only $29.99 (unless you get the limited edition which is only $10 more). That's a hell of a bargain.

Well, I'm not that broke. I worked about 15 hours @ 75.00 an hour this week, maybe I can keep 30 bucks around for next week. :)

I absolutely love the MGS series. Gameplay is fantastic, sure, but I like it better than Splinter cell because of the art design and the crazy stories. Kojima is crazy haha, always playing tricks on the gamer. I love it.

I dont have broadband for my PS2, so I've never played online. I'd have to pick up a router so I can share my internet. Anybody got an extra? haha

I have an old piece of shit Compaq 802.11b AP/Router. But it is such a piece of shit I would not give it too you.

I need the NIC for my PS2 too.

Heck I forgot about the router since mine broke. I guess I was expecting to just plug my phone line (DSL) straight into the PS2 lol. Hopefully my modem has multiple line outs or something.

I agree with everything you said about Metal Gear. I've played Splinter Cell as well and while it's a very good game it just doesn't have the Kojima touch. Splinter cell, from my play experience, is more about the actual mission itself. I honestly couldn't care less about it's story. It just has more of that "yeah yeah, just tell me what I have to do next and stop talking" kind of feel to it which is actually a good thing for some gamers.

Metal Gear on the other hand is played FOR the story and characters. I'm going through the levels thinking "oh man I can't wait to find out what such and such is all about" which is almost the exact opposite of Splinter Cell. If you aren't the type of gamer that likes deep story and character development sequences then it obviously won't appeal as much to you.

Not to mention Kojima is the master of thinking outside the box and has a great sense of humor which can be seen in all his games (if you know what to look for that is).

Went to get it today and they aren't going to have it until tomorrow even though I preordered it over a month ago. A big :redFU: :redFU: to EB games. Maybe they can tell me the point of preordering again? I thought it was to insure that I get a copy ON LAUNCH DAY. They did the same thing with GT4.

The manager's response "yeah they just ship them to us whenever, sometimes we get them a few days late, DOESN'T REALLY MATTER TO ME THOUGH". I almost choked him with that last comment.

EB Games can suck the diseased cock of a rabid bear. I hate those bastards. They do that shit all the time. I'm surprised one of the violent youth of America has not shot one of those pole smokers yet because they did not have their pre-ordered game on the release date.

When GTA:San Andreas came out, I went to EB and asked the guy if he had any copies of it. He said he had 20, but he was not selling them until all the pre-order people picked them up. I asked how many pre-orders he had left that were supposed to pick there game up. He said 6. I was like then why won't you sell me a copy. "Because I don't want to." GREAT fucking customer service. I have been in there maybe once since then, and I will NEVER if I can help it spend another dime with that company.

I went across the street to K-Mart of all places and bought a copy out of the display case, with no bullshit egomaniac flunky crap to deal with.

The point of a pre-order is that you are guaranteed a copy whenever they get the game in stock. They LIKE to make you think you are getting the game on the day it is released, but that is bullshit 90% of the time. The dude at EB probably had 3 cases of MGS, but today he is only giving/selling them to the boys that hang off his nuts.

Good luck to you anyway Brock. Hopefully you'll get it tomorrow.

Picked it today and once I saw the kick ass packaging I wasn't quite as pissed.

The limited edition version comes in a box package with special red artwork instead of a normal PS2 jewel case but within it are the two seperate PS2 jewled cases. The first case houses the Subsistence and Persistence discs while the 2nd case has the existence movie DVD. In addition to that there is the seperate Metal Gear Saga Vol.1 PS2 jewel case with foil embosed case art stuck against the back of the Limited Edition package box.

So for $39.99 I now have 4 DVD's of Metal Gear content, an online mode, and 3 complete metal gear games (MGS3, MG1 and MG2) housed in awesome looking PS2 jewel cases.

Best. Game. Release. Ever.

Konami owns.

Edit: Just checked Ebay. The sets are already going for over a $100 lol.

So did you have to preorder to get the limited edition, or would I be able to pick it up tomorrow? Sounds like it's def. worth 10 bucks!!!

I'm pretty sure you had to preorder for the limited edition hence the reason they are going for bank on ebay.

I actually have two copies of the Saga disc. I got one when I preordered and then another one was packaged with the limited edition. I might let it go but in all honesty it's nothing huge unless you just like collecting stuff like this (like I do). It just recaps the entire Metal Gear series in a short 30 minute documentary and has a bunch of DVD quality trailers for MGS4, Metal Gear Acid 2, and Subsistence.

Crap, i wish I knew about this game earlier to preorder, but I am WAY out of the video/computer game loop these days. I have about 14485 things I want to do, but the only thing I really have time to do is school. :(
