tell me what you guys think is better wankel engine or conventional engine? does the wankel have a good aftermarket? can it take boost well? Would you take it over a conventional engine?

In theory, wankel.
In reality, piston engine.
To answer your question, no I would never take a wankel over a traditional piston engine.

I'm going to be honest with you. That, smells like pure gasoline.

pistons change direction
wankel (pronounced vankel) never changes direction and is circular range of motion (sorry if you already knew that). Wankel is harder on emissions as it burns more oil due to apex seal. Can do a lot of work on porting and such of the motor.
I worked with a friend that had one and he had a turbo setup late RX 7. They have the ability for hp but I was told through him that tq is a different story based on engine motion, (not 100% on that) due to physics. Neat German idea that mazda took over.

It stings the nostrils.

I would assume that you aren't wanting this motor to be in your Camaro right? Anyway, Apex seals are a bitch to replace because the motor has to be pulled apart every time. Reliability goes to the piston motor, cool factor goes to the Wankel.
There's a reason people swap in LS1's into RX-7's. Mainly reliability & low end torque.

Someone said this to me earlier today.... There is a reason only one manufacturer produces this motor.

QFTW(quoted for the win)!!!!!
Wankel is a great motor until it detonates...so its not a great motor.

but they rev up pretty quickly
To be honest, I think its awesome because its inovative... but it suffers because they are hard to have work done on them

Innovative? It's been around since the 60's. Hardly innovative, new, or exciting. The RX8's had major problems with being overrated in power delivery. Sounds like a GREAT package to start with. lol

They sound like dirtbikes, imo. They revv insanely fast which makes them perfect for high boost turbo setups, and they`re nice for a smooth ride because their rotors never change direction, meaning a lot less engine vibration.

I'd rather get my eyes gouged out with a spoon than run a turbo rotary engine for a performance application. :)

Last time I checked, running in a circle has you changing direction constantly ;)
