I'm a member of the SCCA CFR-West auto-cross in Florida. Any auto-crossers in the Atlanta area?

Atlanta region puts on autox in the Turner Field parking lot and I think they have a few other locations.

Alabama Region (http://alscca.org) has events at Birmingham Race Course (the dog track parkinglot) and at Talladega Grand Prix (a little road course between Talladega and Oxford).

Al Region has an event this weekend May 7th (Sunday) at BRC, their first one at that location this year.

Both events are roughly 2 hours from here. There is also the Wiregrass region, but I do not know if they are doing solo anymore as there was at one point this year, a lack of support from regional members.

EDIT: In the above statement HERE ment Auburn, as the significant majority of people on here are in Auburn.

Where does P'cola race? I know they lost their site for a while after Ivan.

EDIT: Nevermind, they still do not have a site. Wow, they really were screwed after Alabama Region did not have a site for a while.

Of all the old airfields (Naval Training airports) that are around Pensacola, you would think they could find something for them to race on.

i heard the bham site's (dog track and the met) are no longer available... so for this season they were gonna save up all the money they would have put forward for this season to buy there own private parking lot/build their own for next season. that would freakin OOOOWWWWNNNNN!!:meatwad:

edit: just checked and it seems like they go the dog tracks back... which was a long course, and pretty good, but damn rough. at least they got it back.

They did not get the entire parking lot like they used to have, only the two lots at the bottom of the hill that are in blue on this image.

WHAT THE FUCK!? that IS the worst part of the parking lot!!!! they can't possibly think that'll be enough room to have a decent autox.... argh!

Aparently, since the Race Course has been hosting the "Internet Cafe/Bingo Palace" they have patched and redone part of the parking lot.

Yeah, it sucks. But the thought is that over time they will be able to expand out a bit until they have a significant portion of the old area.

Better than nothing which is what they will have when TGPR gets hacked up in August.

What needs to happen is the City of Hoover and the people that run the Hoover Met need to get the stick out of their ass and let them run their again. But I do not think that is going to happen. They had a "demo" event there in February and the guy that runs it and a city councilman decided that it would be destructive to the paint markings....

I personally like the idea of buying a piece of property and making a "Solo" Center or what have you, but the NIMBY people would get all pissy about it. And it is cost prohibitive unless you have someone who is a huge benefactor to donate the land or pay for the paving. It is on my When I Hit The Lottery list. ;)

When are you going under the knife?

May 17th in Columbus... I just pray it will make me better and will not reoccur... I can't deal with it like it is now.

Perhaps the Alabama region should convince APR to convince to pave ALL of the land we are looking at buying for a new builiding... :D

 I haven't heard anything about this.

Edit: Just checked TGPR's website. It says they will be "remodeling". Here is the new proposed track design:

The state is four laneing Hwy 21, so they are taking some of the property for the Right of Way.

If you look on the calendar, Heebspeed will be the last group who runs there before they remodel. :D

Video from Sunday's Birmingham AutoX - No incar shots, but you get the idea of how they integrate the two bottom lots and make something workable.

The review from the people on the alscca forum seem positive, but that might be a reaction to not having a site. :) They still were able to have a 50 second course this time around.
