Saw this story on another site, thought it was kinda cool.
Hi all...We are once again the proud owners of an '84 LX Hatchback 5.0L 5spd. We bought her from her original owners in '92 had her until '98 ( kept her original and in mint condition ...sadly decided to sell her in May of '98) Put her on my uncles car lot .. two young guys took her for a test drive on Friday afternoon and the police figure they made keys for her on their test drive ) On Sunday morning she was GONE! His insurance was a 5000 deductible and wouldn't cover it ( we had taken our insurance off her while she was sitting on his lot) .. We had no car and no cash! Police checked intot he guys who had her for a drive but of course they "didn't take the car"
GOOD NEWS she was recovered June 22nd, 2006... the guy who had the car had her towed to a Mida's garage because he put the clutch out of her...the mechanic noticed she had no VIN in the window and alerted police).. she was mint when stolen and for 22 years old and missing for 8 yrs and 1 month she is still in decent shape) I recieved a call from a police dept 3 hours from here asking if I had a car stolen .. I said yeah 8 yrs ago, I had a mustang stolen.. the officer says " well you won't believe me but we recovered your car" I said yeah but what kind of shape is it in now? He said " for being 22 yrs old it isn't in bad shape" After the RCMP auto theft unit was finished with it and confirmed the original VIN (on the unibody and the firewall) we were allowed to take her home July 2nd/06 .. we arrived at their impound ....showed proof of original ownership and towed her home...We went right to work at getting her cleaned up and running fine... put her on the road July 13th/06.. no current pics of her but i know she was MEANT TO BE MINE! .. She was stolen before she could be sold and found her way back to me after 8 yrs... you can judge for yourself but I think its a damn original story! here is a link to a few pics of her ... http://www.mustangforums.com/photose...filter=&page=1
thanks all.... She definatly is a beauty... I did thank the mechanic who reported her and wrote a lengthy letter to Midas head office about my unique experience with their honest mechanic. She certainly is my project car for the winter as she does need a few things..( but nothing major..mostly cosmetic) ... they guy who had her was a pig ..literally the 3rd pic in the link i posted was our first look at her in impound..she was filthy and full of ciggarette butts, McDonald's junk and of all things a bag of loose dog food and dog bones) all that was cleaned out of her after we took her home ...She had 106000 more Kms on the odometer than when she was stolen.. and the weekend of the 16th of Sept we are showing her at Mustang Show at the ford dealership 20 minutes away from where she was found ( kinda hope someone who knew her while she was away sees her now lol) even after the work we did to her The 1st pic in the link was taken the end June after we cut all the fake window tint out of her cleaned her up and while she was waiting for the wheel center and new clutch from ford..she now has an alarm ... new igintion and new locks! .. So thanks for reading her story if nothing else its unique!
