ok so I kicked out my 2 roomates about 4 months ago, one moved to korea and the other stayed here in atlanta. I told them before they left about bills for that month. Anyway the guy who is still in town paid the other roomates part for the bills (78 bucks) but STILL hasnt paid his part.
That roomate also left abunch of his shit at my house, which I can prolly sell and recoup some of my money.( 2 pairs of roces skates, autographed atl hawks basketball, among other things)
Anyway, It doesnt seem like he wants to talk to me. So I want to take his ass to small claims court.
He wasnt on the lease, but I can prove he was here because his mail still gets sent to my house.
Anyone got suggestions?
Unfortunately, if his name's not on the lease, you're liable for all the bills. It's in every lease's fine print. Ebay anything that's not yours and suck it up.

How much money are you talking about? Probably not worth your time.
Plus, if you don't have any written contract, good luck winning your case.

Hell, I wouldn't ever worry about it man. It doesn't even sound like that much money unless of course you have left something out. You'd end up spending more money missing work, getting a lawyer, gas driving around etc...I'd just drop it.

10-1 you are liable for the bills. On top of that...you might end up getting in deeper water if the land lord find out you leased property thru your own chanels and not thru them.

Its only 78 bucks. Its just the principal of the thing. I didnt know you need a lawyer for small claims.
I texted him last night, and he said I can come pick up the money when I get the chance.

$78 bucks isnt worth all the hassle. I agree with the the principle no one should get anything for free. Just do like you said and sell his stuff.

Roger that. Good move calling him though. Now hope he follows through. Also Nick has a very good point.

pull a gun on his ass and tell him if he thinks his sorry ass life is worth more than $78 + the price of the lead you put into his dome, then he should consider gettin' together the scratch that he owes you. lol, that should get the point across!;)
