View Full Version : Zen Prelude = 11.9's 1/4 mile

Zen Motorsports owner, Scott, told someone the other day that his car runs 11.9s in the 1/4 mile on street tires. In all actuality, last time I was at the track with him, he couldn't even hit 15s. That is just plain poor when a car that runs ~mid 15s stock, and is now turbo, can't run 15s or better. Then he has to continue and shoot his mouth off about his car running 11s to one of my domestic friends, whom he probably thinks knows nothing about imports.
Scott if you read this I want to you realize a couple things:
1. Running a shop and telling lies is bad business.
2. I can count the 11 second cars in Auburn on one hand. Everyone knows who they are.
3. I don't believe there was any street legal 5th generation prelude that has run 11s on street tires.
4. If you continue to tell lies, I will continue to let everyone know of them.

I talked to him today about it and he says he never said anything of the sort.
So I don't know....
What are the specifics? Who was it that he actually supposedly told?

I'm not saying it's not the truth, it's just that I've never actually heard the first hand account of it yet. I've always heard well he told me he said it, or did you hear what he said and not yeah he told me, ya know?

Hell, I don't know. I'm just going by the word on the street and being a local and all it's usually true. It's called the "Auburn Syndrome." Get it? Yeah, probably not. :roll:

Well this is the same deal Adam. You are telling us it's not the truth, but it didn't come from his mouth. I heard it personally from the person he told and gave his business card to.
If he says it nots true, then he should come on here and dispute his image and his companies.

Ive only seen one 5th gen skreet driven prelude that runs low 12's (EDT Racing...verrry sweet car), and he had a fully build type S motor and a 150 shot of the nawz.
I bet either: it was a misunderstanding, -or- scott's prelude is really running 9's and he's being modest

Thats odd, he told Morgan and I at the shop (in person) that the Greddy kit would support 400+HP with a T7/T8 turbo.
400+ on stock internals, no intercooler, with a turbo that is not real.
The guy has always been very nice when ever I have met or talked to him, but ZEN needs to realize they should stick to wings and body kits.

He told me a year or so ago that he road races at sebring when he goes home to FL.
He told ME that he built the track with a swiss army knife, 2 packets of jbweld and a toothbrush.

He told me that the turbo was titanium and the airbags were replaced with secret NOS resevoirs. He is also God, apparently. (this is what he told ME)

No... he doesn't have NOS reservoirs, it's a water-to-NOS conversion kit. :roll: :mrgreen:

He just has a little glitch. his current setup should be good for at least high 14's. His lude stock should run about 15.5-15.7, and he added 60-80whp..well...once its working right anyways.
Last i talked to him about it, he had the same problem i had with my prelude, at WOT it just quits making power. I actually ran better times when i was easy on the gas.

Yes I agree. The funny thing is the Greddy kit is the "plug and play" of turbo kits. Kinda sad when you can't get that to run right. I mean it comes with the fuckin' blue box (Pretuned piggy back system, for those non-ricerocket folks).
I guess the biggest problem I have is, him running/owning his own shop when he can't get his own cars to run right or a good time. Usually shops have a car that they brag about. They brag and talk about that car, and it doesn't even run stock times.

i NEVER said my car ran 11s. i dont know who started this BS, but im here to take care of it now (thanks to adam for actually telling me about this crap, if i knew this had become such a big deal earlier, i would have been here much sooner) .
who was the person that said i told them my car ran 11s?? adam told me he thought it was morgan?? someone who drives a mustang. anyway, i would never say anything that stupid about my car, i know just as well as the next person that a bolt on turbo kit running 8 psi is not going to put my car in the 11s. i would be happy running mid to low 14s right now.
i might have said i would LIKE to run 11s, who wouldn't? but i NEVER said it DOES run 11s. that is total bullshit. i dont lie about my car like some people to, and i dont brag about it, but i do take pride in my work, otherwise i would not have dumped so much $$ into it. i love working on cars, its what i have always wanted to do. i know i dont have the best car in town, i never said i do, so why are you (wiggie) saying i said that??

for your information, my car is running fine, i had a hose cuppler that cracked in a place that was not easily noticable, fixed it, now it runs fine. i was also waiting on a set of colder plugs (which fixed the top end hesitation). yes, my car runs better then stock times. my best et before the turbo, 15.1, not bad for a car that weighs 3195lbs with basic bolt ons and street tires, when you saw the 15.9, it was at least 120 on the track, i had a full system in the trunk, and my tires were trashed. im not trying to make excuses, but its the truth. no one was running that good of times that day. if you know so much about drag racing, you should know that i did not set up my car to drag, i road race it, and it does very well. if i was building a drag car, i would not have started with a 5gn prelude (to heavy, but a good motor), i would not have ugraded to larger rotors (more rotaional drag), i would not have used a light weight flywheel, i would not run 17" rims, and so one. like i said before, i didnt build the car to drag, how many 5gn preludes do you see drag racing and getting good times? not many. i have raced at sebring twice, once in an NSX, once in my car, road atlanta (in my car), and once at homested. If anyone wants to put there money where thier mouth is, you can go with me and our group to the new road track in birmingham in april for the next track event (more info will be posted on the zen forum soon...)

look, i dont know how this shit got started, if someone miss-understood me then im sorry, but the fact remains that i never said my car runs 11s.
you can talk all the shit you want, but the fact is most people on this post have never speaked with me before, and are talking shit based on rumors other people have started. if you have something you want to say, come to the shop (or call us, 334-737-0600) and say it in person, dont hide behind your forum and talk shit. if you want to say something, say it to my face. we are all adults (most of us anyway) and i have no problem talking with someone about any beef they might have with me or the shop. the people that do know me on this forum should know that i would never say the kind of things that have been posted.
