yeah and its 32 mil. not 5 hehe

EDIT: honestly i have never like saban because of his previous coaching jobs and the way he has skipped around. beleive me i'm all about bettering yourself but Huizenga bent over backwards for saban and i think its weak of him to give up after 2 years. not to mention the fact that for over a month he has clearly stated i wil not be coaching bama next year". GL to bennedict arnold and his ever so over confident and unrealistic bama fans.

He now holds the record for highest paid coach in college football history.

I think UAT will be a force to be reckoned with in '08.

dude, 35 mill? Youd have to be nuts to not take that job. Bama better be playing some damn good ball for that amount on coaching... yeeash.
but just because you can buy a coach dont mean you can be sucsessful.

He was making more at the Dolphins. He took a pay cut to go to Bama.

but just because you can buy a coach dont mean you can be sucsessful.Your opinion matches that of a bunch of people who oppose UA [no hard feelings, seriously]. Alabama didn't look for a way to spend $30-40 million to automatically become successful. Nick Saban will do wonders for recruitments and stabilizing the program. The table will turn when it comes to Auburn vs Alabama recruitments with Saban in charge. That's not my opinion, it's all over the sports channels and websites. Saban is a recruiting machine. Ask Les Miles, he's been winning 10 game seasons for 2 years now with the man's recruits. You are right, you can't buy a result, but you can come pretty damn close if you have UA's money.

yeah but we means he took a pay cut for 3 years at .5 mil a year

if its the saban we are used to over his career he'll coach bama for 3 years tops and either do so good he'll leave for more money and another opprotunity or he get fired cause bama can't understand the concept of time

The problem with that is now that he has been labeled as not trustworthy, it could hurt his recruitment opportunities outside of the state of Alabama. I know his salary number seems to suggest permanence but that won't keep parents and their recruited kids from being a little suspicious.

That being said, I think he'll be at Bama for quite awhile. He left the NFL because he prefers the college ball atmosphere, and I would too. But as of late, Bama has a fiery NFL atmosphere with the way they've handled some decisions from a business standpoint, so maybe the transition won't be quite as dramatic for him.

If the boy has any sense, (and I believe he does) his contract is worded as such that the only person he answers to is Dr. Whitt or whoever else might happen to be president of the university. He should have the ability to tell Paul Bryant Jr or any other supporter to take a flying fuck without any major repercussions. Without that clause, he will only be there as long as he wins 10 games a year with no drop off from year to year, which is a ridiculous expectation in this day and age.

He also needs to come in and start hard on the discipline. The inmates have run the asylum for a few years now, that has to stop. If he needs a model, he can look on this side of the state.

I wish him luck against everybody but Auburn. Alabama has talent and has the facilities to be a major player in football again. Which makes beating them that much more fun. It has been like beating up on the fat mentally handicapped kid lately.

Yup. It's good for everyone if Alabama is good. I want to see them back up on the polls, and representing our state well. I would love for Alabama to be a power player again - they have alot of heritage and a big name - all the sweeter when the iron bowl comes around. I agree with Jason. I hope this Saban stuff has the effect that Alabama is hoping.

Yeah I agree. But hopefully it won't take a turn for the worst and them come back in a couple of years with that superhuman retard strength and rip us in half.

I agree it's good for Auburn if UA is good, but it's not good for all the redneck UA fans (NOT students) who scream roll tide at you for no reason... They've been quiet the last few years thank god.

I'm actually anxious to see how much money they spend on what coaches. I think Jimbo Fisher [who I might add is coaching in the LSU slaughter tonight as Offensiver Coordinator] is a done deal as OC. I hear Joe Kines is history, and the is talk maybe trying to get Auburn's defensive coordinator <--- this is no lie, not trying to start some rumor.

It has been rumored that this is indeed a clause in his contract.
