Tried checking the calendar, but it hasn't moved on from last month. What's the plan for tonight? :steering:

The deck has levels....if you park on the 3rd....you can avoid the rain...almost COMPLETELY(NEWS FLASH!!!)

Amazing concept really... something to do with the tape delay, and the uh... solar winds :tard:

It won't rain. However, parking on a lower deck might help to avoid the gusty wind that will be present tonight.

I will be on the 3rd deck or at the house depending on how cold it is. :partydanc

It will be 30 degrees. I suppose we won't be seeing you tonight. :( You should come anyway. Doesn't the Fox have a heater? :)

Ehhh the cold doesnt bother me really its the fucking wind, but I think I might have some long johns...

TylerW

Yes the wind is killer, but I think we'll be fine on the third floor. It only gets pretty windy on top (sexual reference not intended).

I guess the wind might be a bit less being on the second level however I doubt it...but...whatever sells the idea:patriot:

Doesnt wind get worse in a confined spaces?

Cue aerospace and mechE majors.

Depends on how fast the wind in question is;)

That would be me. :)

To answer your question, only at the openings of the deck would the wind be "worse" since velocity increases as area decreases, but everywhere else in the deck would be normal since the pressure inside is equal to the ambient pressure.

Area isn't the only thing that effects the velocity of a fluid though. Temperature, density, and pressure also have an effect. Wind generally gets worse at higher altitudes due to these properties.

However, since the building in question is mostly open to the atmosphere, it really doesn't have much of an effect. The pressure inside the deck isn't changing so the wind really doesn't have a reason to get "worse" inside. The deck doesn't act as a venturi. If the pressure inside the deck were different, then your statement would be correct.

From above we could also gather that the wind would not be significantly less than that of the top deck. As the third level would only be with out a roof which should have little to do with protection from the wind

That is true. But the walls can offer some shelter. They tend to throw off the wind vectors a tad. Hiding in a corner would offer some aid. Slightly noticeable but overall not a big difference. It's still going to be effing cold.

It's really not that bad. I did not notice a loss in tire performance, but then again I do drive an n/a 3000GT. :D

Oh God please no. I did too much Mach and Reynold's number comparisons last semester when doing flow similarity. That's something I'd like to stay away from for at least another couple of weeks. :D

It was on that HW in question. :D There were at least three problems on it in that HW, and there were two problems on the final that required flow similarity, but one of them required limited knowledge (the wind tunnel problem where all you did was multiply pressure and density by 15).
