just a question, this is a forum yes but its a website also right? ya think maybe why people dont come here is because all we have is forums? just a question

We have 60+ registered users and it's only been around for 7 months, I think that's pretty good. Adam is in charge of the website stuff, and he's been busy as fuck with all kinds of things so that's why we never really got motivated to work on the other aspects of the site besides the forum.
Another big thing is the involvement of everyone on the board is pretty slim when it deals with anything other than the message board. I remember when we first started the site we tried for like 2 weeks to get people to schedule times for pictures for member pages and tried to get everyone involved... but the majority of people never bothered to do anything and if they did make appointments or whatever, they never followed through.
Hopefully that gives you some kind of answer to your question. If you or anybody else feels like trying to get shit organized on the site and finish it up somewhat, let everyone know. It would be nice to get this thing finished.

hmm, I like just the message board just fine. I dont think SCAR is ever going to become this huge forum or club or whatever. nor do I care. Getting things organized is too much of a hassle, hell, it is all I can do to make it out tuesday nights. I like the forum!
oh i think the message board is fine too, dont get me wrong. i was just wondering about the rest of the site. i didnt know that adam was that busy so its all good, plus we (as in scar) have never done things to the full extent anyways heh :) and hell if i knew how to write website html i would help out but i dont know shit about that so *shrugs*

i can use a super nice digi cam to take pics of peoples cars if they want. I might have time to do some nice graphics for the site too.

ESOS: Why would people be more interested and more involved if it was a full fledged website w/ no forum vs. a website front w/ forum?? Basically, I see ALOT less people visiting the site if it didn't have the forum.
You also talk about trying to get shit together. Adam and Jimmy tried to get pics of peeps rides, didn't work. I tried to just get a convoy to SLO-PEE (NOPI for those ricers). All I asked was what day you were planning on going up and what time, if you had a preference. That was just so we could get rides for those that didn't have them, and also groups of us could go together. I think I had a total of one person respond with the correct response. And it's not like people didn't know if they were going. Alot of people from SCAR were going and just couldn't cooperate.
Honestly, this board has about zero feedback unless it has to do with a flame war of some sort. I can not remember a single thread, that did not have flame in it, that lasted more than two pages.
So, maybe the reason no one visits is because this board is a fairly close group of people that just come on here to BS with each other.
P.S. You said you don't know HTML, well grab you a copy of Dreamweaver and go to town. Or just help design the site and post up ideas and designs you have come up with.

well i for sure know that joe paid for the website, it was something like $50. also i didnt say that more people would visit the site without forums i was just suggesting finishing the rest of it. personally i think the website looks fine, it just needs pages where we have member listings and pictures and all that other stuff that is on the first page but has nothing to link to. all we need is the information and then put up the same back ground that is used just with the information and/or more links to more information. instead of trying to get everyone to sit down and write by hand in all our info what if we posted up a webpage that had a form that we could fill out so that it is instantly in adams hands to move it and organize it into all the pages for info and what not. (just an idea)
all i am/was saying is that if we bumped up the website with more info for people to look at and be interested in maybe some tuner tips page and what not, and stuff like that that maybe more people might visit our site and then the forums and maybe even meet up with us... who knows

This forum is just for the locals to chat with each other and bitch about things. If you want to meet up with other forums, join club si or something.
There is a huge honda tech meet in atl comming up. I want a few people to come with me. ( cam-ron, wi66ie, brock, etc)
Joe told me he paid 70 bucks for the webspace for 2 years. Since he is one of the first people in the club i believe him.
Mike and I are designers, you (adam) are a programmer.

1) why is this funny??
2) a page where anyone that has done the project with possible pictures (this is preferred) can send a description of a project and how they accomplished it so that anyone can go online and look it up and try it to see if it either fixes the problem or helps them out, they are good for tips on how to install this or that, and how to fix this or that, also just maybe some things one has found out about their car that helps out the performance of their car (better gas mileage, better hp, whp, fuel flow, etc. and whatnot) i have seen this done a couple website/forums and they were a great help in a few cases on my integra.
the pages would not be forum format but html, so the webmaster would have to put them up and not just anyone could post up some random comment that may or maynot work.

i have seen this done a couple website/forums and they were a great help in a few cases on my integra.

yes i know that i went to a website with a tuner tip page and the site was for my car specifically. i was just suggesting that maybe we do something like that too but for all the different cars that we own so maybe someone might come and read and it will help them out. im not saying that i cant go to some other site and find out stuff that i dont know or even go to a different forum, all i was starting this thread for was to suggest maybe we do the same as some of the other sites and have a full site with some of the trimmings instead of a forum alone.

I dont feel like helping ricers that come visit the site. there are already pages that show how to do everything, you just have to search.
this is somewhat of a club page, not a help noob ricer page. I dont think i should have to spoon feed someone. IF someone wants to learn something they will look for information on their own.

If you haven't noticed the purpose of this board is basically a local gathering of ricers to discuss and help each other towards being in the fast and the furious. How many "tuner tips" have you seen for you 2nd gen teg?? Just image if we did that for all the cars in the club. Are you going to pay for the webspace? If you don't think there is alot jsut go to www.vfaq.com which is only on DSM's.
Now on the other hand if people need tips/help with their car this is where they come. They ask for info/advice and that is when we can link them to a page where they can get help. But, if you don't ask for help, we can't give it.

However, I would like to see it completed and if I have to do it myself so be it. I have told Adam that I appreciate what he has done for us, but if someone wants to finish the website I will let them.

id offer to help, but i need to learn some PHP first if any changes are needed to the forum section. If i had the source code, i MIGHT be able to figure out enough of how it works to make some changes. The languages I and Adam write stuff in is totally different.
By the way, its not a lift kit, its an altitude optimizer. It raises the CG for more body roll and diaganal body-flex. Its too complicated, you wouldnt understand.....
jess... i dont think that they were saying anything about the forum, but the rest of the website. like all those links on the front page and only two of them work. the map directions page and the link to the forums. maybe im wrong but i think thats what they mean when the rest of the site to be finished. :)
