On Saturday March 1st APR is having a cookout open to the public. I do not know who if any of you were at the cookout last year (i was in PC at an import car show myself) but i heard it was a blast. Then on Sunday March 2nd the people of APR are planning on going to Andretti Speed Lab in Atlanta, Ga. The web address is: www.andretiispeedlab.com for more info. For those of you that are not familar with the speedlab, its an indor CART track open to the public. APR has the track reserved on Sunday for their private use. The people of APR did not invite use to come but then again they seemed not to mind if we were to tag along. If you are interested in going to ATL for some CART action, legimate wheel to wheel racing, then let me know. The cost is going to be between 40 - 50 dollars for three track sessions. One track session is 12 laps. If we were to get a big enough group, maybe we could get a better price. Once again, i do not want to step on APR's toes by inviting ourselves to their function, but i would not post this if i thought they would mind. I am trying to get some concrete numbers to see who was down for going and who was not. It would be a nice trip for SCAR at a group discount rate and a solid track racing experience. I am still working on things with APR and will post more as i know more.
ASL is a ton of fun it's just damn costly...
Whatever you do just don't race dawg for money. He's a ringer :D
Also... If it's cold don't even bother. The track itself in indoors but, they vent the air to the outdoors with huge fans. So take the outside air temp then drop it by about 5 degrees. Now imagine a 35mph wind on your bare hands gripping a cold plastic wheel. Last time we went it was about 40 degrees outside and after one run (about 11 laps [9 minutes]) I couldn't feel my fingers.
I just pray it's warm and if we can get a discount I'd be in
No more ASL for me, I have reason to believe that they have further governed their carts or the clutches are going out. Last time I was there the car took YEARS to get going not to mention the fact I was running 34.X seconds per lap. For reference, I ran mid 33's my FIRST TIME THERE! Ever since my first time, I have averaged LOW 32's with many mid/high 31sec laps. The last time I was running the exact same lines with the exact same braking points(only 2) and was 2 sec slower....I don't think so. My other friends were all off of their bests by about 2sec also. I know I haven't gained weight, if they don't get those karts in good running order again, I am never going back. No going to pay the same amount of money to be slower

I'm by no means sure of this, but APR's website says that they are going to have a track day in Talladega on the 2nd. I think I personally would rather go to ASL, however I'm just not sure it can top my mexican carting experience. :D My cousin flipped one....Oh well.

I'd rather drive a real car by far, but that's also a lot more expensive. Plus you can rag the crap out of a cart with no risk of breaking your daily driver.
