Sup guys. My roommate drives a 1998 Subaru Impreza L (GC8 body style) and we will be swapping an 04 STi engine, tranny, driveshaft, axels & brakes in to it soon. The STi will be here sometime later this week and I was wondering if anyone on here knows of anywhere around Auburn with a hydraulic lift (preferrably the kind that lifts from the frame of the car instead of the wheels to make it easier to swap the brakes and axels) that we might be able to use for the swap. Any info would be appreciated.

It's my roommate and his name is William. It would be nice to find a place close to here to do the swap and if so, you guys are welcome to come by. I believe Rick (funinthecav3) is planning on coming and we could use any other help we can get.

William has planned this swap for quite some time now and instead of purchasing the engine, tranny, driveshaft, axels, brakes for about $10000 he bought a slightly wrecked 2004 STi for about the same price and will be using the parts from it instead. This is the car we will be swapping the STi parts into..
Impreza L (http://liquidsolace.com/carpics/williams%20lsti.JPG)

The plan so far is to swap the motor, transmission, driveshaft, axels, differential, brakes, suspension, steering column and anything else that we can strip out of the STi and put in the L.

Looking forward to this swap and like I said, anyone is welcome. If we can find a place to work, should be starting around the 21st.

**Also, William is going to be selling some parts from the STi that he won't be using including the 17x7.5 silver BBS wheels that come with it. **

Thanks,
Eric

I think I was sitting next to your roomie on the TT and over heard his convo. I like the looks of the old Impreza's better than any of the new.

Sweet. I will give them a call tomorrow (or today).

Ok I tried calling today but no answer. Checked their website and didn't see anything about having bays to work on cars. I might call like Wolf Muffler and Eagle Imports and some car places around here and see if they have any ideas of where we could go. Otherwise, it looks like we are going to have to do the swap in Birmingham. Anyone else know of any hydraulic lifts, let me know!!

Yeah the stuff at Sun does not have a lift. You would need a jack and stands. :)

You are going to be SOL around here. I know of at least two older shops that are vacent in Opelika right now that still have lifts in them but they are looking for long term leases from businesses and not individuals doing short term projects. They are in the ghetto too, so you'd need a few alarms and a vicious dog or two to keep the crackheads at bay.
