A few of the guys were talking tonight at the meet and decided it would be a good idea to create a thread for "work logs" so we will be able track of who is doing what work on their ride. That way if someone is working on their car, the other members will be able to follow up on the progress or know when they might be able to stop by and offer their assistance, etc.
Perhaps some of the other members I was talking to might be able to elaborate on this idea more..

Good Idea!
I have two projects going on as we speak -- taking pictures the whole way.... DO IT!
Each contributing member could have a stickie which they would update with just pics from the projects. The rest could be questions pertaining to future projects so other members can add their insight and opinions on how one should go about doing it etc
And plus: I already have one for the engine, suspension and interior that just adds clutter and is kind of a pain to find, update etc.
Hrm, well I'm just a lowly mod but what would be the difference from a "work log" from a thread that you create yourself and keep adding to?

It's all one thread, so if one wanted to go waaaay back and see the general progress they wouldn't have to stalk the dude and search through all his hundreds of posts/threads. It just makes it easier for everyone who is interested I'd think

Throw my vote in the ring too. Im hopefully going to be doing a DIY paintjob write up and that would help.

I like the idea of a work log, but I agree with Jess too...why not just create a thread or multiple threads, one for each project and add to them? I guess the fact that they would not be stickied it the only difference...
Where would the work log threads reside? In the "Tech" section or in a new "Work Log" section?
General Tech section. and then a separate one for the Work logs (kind of like NSFW)
And the difference would be that all the projects would be in one big thread I.E - "Byrd's Projects" so one could look at the beginning and see the car progress instead of just individual threads and you really can't get an idea....and then the thread just dies off never to be seen again.

Well, then people obviously don't know how to use the 'Advanced Search' feature ;)
Limit it to General Tech... threads started by <Username>...
Search > You

If anything it is better for organizational purposes. Sometimes I may be a little OCD, but organization makes things much easier for me. To be able to open up General Tech and then Work Logs and have nothing but people's projects in there would make it a lot more efficient for keeping track of information regarding the projects and know when they will need help and so on. It obviously is not a requirement, as the search function is available, but I think if people were able to easily navigate to the Work Logs forum and see the multiple car projects, they would be more likely to stay afloat in the sea of posts than having to figure out who you wanted to help or wanted to see pics of, then search, yada yada. I just like making people's lives easier so that's my $0.02
Edit: An example of what it might look like to hopefully clear things up..
> Work Log
: Project LSTi - bla bla
: Project Z31 - yada yada
: Work - Brake service on 2010 Camaro - bla bla(gives people the option to post up work they might need help on if they don't have a "project" car).
: Project "Alyssa" - bla yada bla
You would either see "Project" out front to keep up with people's project cars or you would see "Work" to know of work available. That way if Phil is working on his brakes and Charlie isn't around with his nice ass Matco wrench, other members who might have access to one and be sitting at home watching Full House reruns, completely oblivious to the summoning of their automotive assistance, will be able to help. I'm for anything that would make this forum more organized and user-friendly :D

I'd just go someplace like https://www.blogger.com/start and create an account if you are going to be doing that many projects. Those things are totally better designed than a board for putting all kinds of content.
Just put a thread in General then bump it when you update the work log. It still drops down the list over time as new threads are added on this board, but it is easily found with a simple search.
I can see that happening a lot sooner than Adam getting time to set the board up to do work logs like you want to.

Haha its funny you say that b/c one of the first questions most car guys ask is "What all have you done to your car?"

I get that all the time or what is that.
Create some threads showing the idea (not fake threads... actual work)
If it actually has traction and it's good... I'll move them into a new forum.
Gotta see the demand before I fragment a forum that doesn't have that much traffic anyhow

make a thread about you pos and put a link to it in the website spot on your profile or put it in you sig. Problem solved... I dont need to ask whats done to ones car, because the world revolves around me....
haha Sounds good. I'll do it when i have some time
