Ok guys, finally after drooling over lsx motors over the years Im getting one. If the banks ok with the loan I might be getting a cyclone grey 05 ls2 gto. My car is now up for sale and hopefully will sell soon. I love the car, drove it and the low end torque is insane. The car has 12.5k miles and is below kbb on the price. I figured its a good move for a reliable car thats a good daily as well as a good performing car.
Just a heads up of what yall might see in the fall. I just hope I can make it out to some meets and get to meet some of yall with my hectic class schedule and maybe rush. Ill keep yall updated on what happens as I should hear back this week from the bank and get some pics up asap if it does happen.
Thanks,
Will

The GTO is a pretty nice car. A buddy of mine has a black one. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the exterior.. looks too grand am'ish. The interior is really nice though and you can't go wrong with an LS. Hope it works out for you.
Hope if pans out for you, its def. a cool car

Bwahahaha GTSlow.
I guess you're wanting forced induction then? That's the only way that fat pig is gonna be fast.
Not hating on the car itself, it's just that they're SO DAMN HEAVY!
But they are nice inside.

Yeah the car is heavy as balls, I come from a 240sx that weighs 2700 lbs so a 1k in weight is a big difference. Lots of people have been putting them on a diet though and getting them down in the 3400 lb range or even 3300 if your extreme.
Im also not looking to be the fastest out there, so forced induction is definitely out of the question, maybe bolt ons and a cam and Id like to be able to hit mid 11's with it on the stock 243 heads.
I was just looking for a nice comfortable ride not slammed to fuck and had decent performance, its weight is far off from f bod's and stuff but I still think its a good all around car.
so you dont want anything too extreme, just a mid 11's daily driver?

Well I would say that it isn't impossible to do but you are going to have to put in on a diet and do a fairly aggressive cam to go 11's in the car. I would say realisticly you with a cam and headers and maybe a few other supporting mods you will run consistant 12.5's due mainly to traction and driver learning curve. Once you have the car figured out and have gotten some drag radials you will be knocking on the door of 11's saying that the car makes around 450 wheel which isn't impossible for a cam only GTO.

Yeah, I intend on keeping the car stock for a while to get the groove of driving such a heavy car with the lsx motor as Im sure its going to be different than the 240. Ill probably be spending many trips down to the drag strip, I hope many of yall go, to get in touch with the car and how to drive it correctly and quickly. Im sure its going to be different than just ringing it out to 7500 rpms every gear like with my 240.
All in all I just want it to be a fun, quick daily. 11's are a goal, I wont be disappointed if I dont get it any time soon. Oh and weight reduction is probably going to be one of the first things I'll do to the car. Street weight goal with spare is 3550. Race weight goal without the spare or back seats is around 3450. The only bad thing is that most of the removed weight will be from the rear of the car so that can hurt traction.
And update on the situation, banks working out the loan, we are now just working on a lower interest rate because of some mistakes made by some companies that hurt the credit a little bit. Screw ups by the companies are being all smoothed out and lower interest rate is on its way!:meatwad:

I think the GTO is a pretty cool car. I'd gladly trade a little acceleration to step into a GTO vs. an F body.

Why is that unfortunate...I am glad you are branching out of your honda bubble to experience new a different things. It was kinda like that time when you and I...I won't go into that right now, all I can say is that I *have a* major case of the saber toothed crotch crickets.

My old boss had a cyclone grey 05. Its really nice, and pretty quick. His rear end clicked when pulling away from a stop. I never found out if he ever got it fixed. Ive heard people are getting leftover 06's for 25.

So I got it, the interior far surpassed what I was expecting. There are so many perks to having a car that isnt almost 14 years old.
Car came with tint, warranty on tint, remaining factory warranty and the guy even gave me some engineering software that his company made for the future.
Haha nice comment about the holden monaro, I guess I havent completely made it out of imports, it is australian.
Only pictures are on my phone and dont know how to send them to pixplace and show them, but man do I have a lot of them.
