Been doing some reading ect, well after all of it I still can’t decide what I really want. Anyway figured I would gather some opinions of what others think. Anyway I am looking for something compact, easy to carry, light, but dependable, and a good price point would be nice but not a necessity.

Cal Tech makes a nice affordable 9mm that is light and compact, if price is not an issue, go Glock. Another cheep route would be a makarov 9x18.

I really like the Taurus Millenium for some reason. They make a .40 thats pretty nice and they are small, light and durable. Also Sig makes some pretty nice compact pistols. Glocks are nice, but like FST 05 said, they aren't to cheap. Are you interested in shooting or just want something for protection?

Glocks aren't to cheap? Since when? Glocks are extremely well priced considering their performance/durability.
The most important thing is to find a gun YOU are comfortable shooting. All of the positive reviews in the world don't mean squat if it doesn't feel right to you.
That being said since Glocks and Sigs have already been mentioned I say check out Springfield XD subcompact with a grip extension.

They are very well priced considering their performance/durability/reliability, no doubt. But I wouldn't consider a $500+ gun "cheap" either.
Whichever path you decide to take.. the Sigs, Glocks, Taurus Milennium & the Springfield XD as posted above are all going to be good reliable guns. And I do very much agree with that statement that you should buy a gun you feel comfortable with. Might wanna talk to Trent too, he knows a few things about guns :pimp:

What price range are you looking at? That could help us determine the best pistol in the range if we knew that. Like others said the feel of the pistol in holding it and shooting the pistol are very important when picking one out. If it is not comfortable to hold and does not feel right, you don't want it. Beretta 92 FS is my personal favorite, real nice feel to it and shoots great. Little bulky though.

I'm w/ Brock on the XD... I have the Springfield Sub-Compact XD-45 (.45 ACP ammo). It's a great gun and really the only one that felt comfortable in my hands.

ehh I would like to stay below 700, 500 even better. The main reason I want one is were I am working right now there are alot of crack dealers, hookers and homeless people. I beleive I had looked at the xd before but I think I may go to the ranger and rent some this friday to see what I like the best.

P99 or sw99 get my vote. Of course you could opt for an ultra slim Kahr PW9 or CW9 but those only carry about 7 rounds and are double action only. If you're looking for a cheap one as you have said, just pick up a bersa thunder, or a taurus pt111. If you want really cheap...get a hi point. I wouldn't recommend it though. Don't forget the smith and wesson air lites either, that is...if you're into compact revolvers.

what do you guys think about this?
I'm selling my pristine condition Glock 30. The Glock 30 is rated the most accurate compact gun EVER made. I've had this gun for 2yrs and it's my pride and joy. I bought this gun brand new and spent over $700 in modifications. Yes that a EXTRA $700 in parts and master gunsmith labor.
-The gun comes w/ 4 yes 4 10 round clips and 1 13 round clip
-I have glow in the dark upgraded nightsights that have been measured for accuracy
-I have the upgraded NY1 trigger w/ trigger stop. The trigger is firmer for perfect feel and alleviate accidental discharge. The trigger stop removes any play from the trigger after trigger is engaged for faster recoil and rapid fire.
-I have 2 GlockMaster springs
-I have the ambedextrous laser installed INSIDE the gun for accurate dead on shots when turned on. The laser can be turned on easily by either right handed or left handed shooters
-The exhaust ports have been machined for better shot bursts(helps to alleviate hard recoil after gun has been fired
-All internals have been smoothed and polished for faster assembly/disassembly and smooth operation. Gun cocks, decocks, loads, fires, and dismantles smoother than any other Glock!! Slight work to firing pin also. Trust me I let other Glock owners handle my gun and they are AMAZED at how nice it feels.
-Grip and trigger arm have been textured and deburred for smoother feel and better all around grip surface.
All work done by master gunsmith. My uncle is a SGT in the SWAT unit of Dekalb County Police. He was able to take my gun and have it worked on by a retired Dekalb County FireArms Specialist that only works on police issued or personal police owned FireArms. He's been retired for 10yrs and works w/ firearms for over 50yrs!!
I've had this Gun for 2yrs but luckily have never had to use it for self defense. I carried this gun for about a year and half but just recently stopped carrying it. I've taken this gun to the gun range numerous times w/ all types of ammunition and IT HAS NEVER EVER JAMMED UP ON ME!! This is the perfect gun for carry and personal protection. I've never been worried when I carried this gun b/c
I'm asking $650 OBO. This is a steal for a $550 Gun plus another $700 in USEABLE upgrades.

or this, I know its not a compact but I read some decent reivews on it.
F/S Stainless Ruger P89 9mm with 15rd mags. This pistol is in excellent condition. I purchased it from a friend of my dad who collects guns. He shot the gun less than 10 times. I Put one mag through it, so it has been shot less than 25 times. It Looks brand new. This gun runs about $500 through a dealer. It is in perfect new condition. It comes with an extra 15rd clip that I had laying around. Serial# 309-16056 $325

I like both guns. Even though I'm not a big fan of compact pistols, I'd probably go with the glock 30. I tend to like guns that don't have hammers ( I dunno why) and I would like a barrel that is at least 3.75 inches in length and I think the glock barely clears that.
Glocks are already really good when it comes to reliability, and if you're going to be carrying it, I'd want you to have something that you can count on and not have jam during a crucial moment (like after spotting a good looking girl and right before the rape).
The mods which the guy has on the g30 are nice, but I'd like to know what he had done to the firing pin as well as who manufactures the sites and what kind of sites they are. With the mods, the glock is by far the best deal. Are you finding these on gunbroker or what?
Also check out www.arotek.com they make some cool glock mods. I've been going to that site since I was in the 9th grade. I found them in the glock annual magazine back in '99 and still have that copy at home in B'ham haha!
PS: Don't get me wrong, the ruger is a great gun as well and they have often won gun of the year through different magazines year over year. I just like the glock better.

For once I'm not posting porn! ;)
I'm a huge fan of guns and own quite a bunch myself. See below pic... (this is just part of the collection, the rest are in the car and upstairs by the bed)

As for what you wanna get, it's personal choice, which I'm sure you know. I own 4 Glocks (23c, 17 and 19, and a 27), a Sig 229 and a Sig 220, Kimber (PD Issued), S&W .357 Magnum, and an XD (which is for sale), an AK74 and a Remington 870 Magnum. For me being a chick, I like the ones that shoot smoother. I love my Sig and Kimber. I usually shoot those the most. Everyone has a Glock and they're the easiest to learn on, but it's all in what you like and what feels good in your hands.

What the fuck is a Police Department doing buying Kimbers for their staff? Great use of tax dollars there.
And you are one odd woman; I hope your meds never run out.

Duluth PD issues Kimbers to all their officers (Norcross PD does too). It's just what the chief wants us to have.

Man, gun shows used to be the place to go to find good deals. No so much anymore and I've driven as far as the Tampa State Fairgrounds from here in AU to attend one. Usually the good ammo costs more there than it does at your local Wal-Mart and the gun prices are all jacked up.
You can find some good deals in some local gun shops (such as Jo Jo's Gun and Pawn in Birmingham) <---not worth the drive so much seeing that you aren't in B'ham (gas would eat that savings alive). Or just hit up www.gunbroker.com or some gun forums like www.thefiringline.com
As far as the shows are concerned, you can find some interesting weapons there, but usually not good deals. They do exist, but nothing better than you can find anywhere else. You can find some rare class III weapons at www.onlythebestfirearms.com I like viewing their inventory from time to time and just wishing I had 15 grand to spend on an mp5. : (
