So i had a great time hanging out this weekend and everything. Thanks again to Rob and Webb for everything. Also HUGE thanks to Sam. Anywho so i left out of Montgomery headed south about 12 on sunday, and didn't get home until midnight. I pulled over in Hope Hull and got gas and checked wheels, tires, and all fluids before getting onto the interstate. About 20 miles south as im cruising around 85 my steering wheel starts to shake like i have a flat, so i merge to slow lane and as i'm merging the vibrations get worse. I get on the brakes and merge to the shoulder and as i do, it gets REALLY bad and i come to a stop. I figured i had lost a tire so i got out and all 4 were fine. I was still kind of in the slow lane, so i put the car in gear to move over and it felt like the car dropped about 2 feet and wouldn't move.

Long story short: 4 of my wheel stud magically backed out as i was driving 85 (the creepiest part is that all 4 studs were PERFECTLY lined up about 3 feet from each other in a straight line about 20 feet behind where my car came to a rest!!!) I had 1 stud still holing the wheel to the hub, and that saved my life. The hub is completely cashed, the wheel is bent, and i have some slight fender damage. Other than i had to wait 4 1/2 hours on 2 different tow trucks and eventually had to remove my bumber because my car was too low. Terrible way to end FOG but luckily i'm alive andh ave pictures!

Poor Dub. If it was your first voyage on a chariot, I'd congratulate you on popping your cherry, but it's not. :asshole:

G'DAMN! That's cutting it close.

I had an experience like that in my '99 cougar. I didn't torque the nuts down to spec and I was going about 70 on the interstate when I hear this helicopter sound from my wheel wobbling back and forth... that was fun.

So i parked it, and while waiting on a jack a community center bus backed into it. :bullshit:

/storytime

That could have been alot worse..... good save

I have no idea how it happened. Like i said less than 15 miles before they were completely fine. And within a matter of 200 yards they went from fine to wheel almost completely off. The threads on the lugs looked completely find and looked as if they were back out with a wrench. None of it makes any sense to me. Just glad i only incurred a few hundred worth of damage. Had the wheel come off i know my car would have been totalled. I still need to get under there and make sure evertything else is fine, but it made it back from montgomery without too much trouble....just some bent wheel shake. I guess this is one of those freak accidents that you hear about andalways dismiss because "that could never happen to me".

holy crap. Glad you're alrite. that could have been nasty. Sounds like it just about almost was. If you'd had waited another 0.01 of a mile, that coulda been shitty.

I wonder if someone was trying to gank your shit while you were sleeping saturday evening and then you are crusing when their attempts came to light...loose lug studs...

I am SO GLAD you are okay dude...and also glad that your car only got a touch of damage

holy shit every story like this i had ever heard, i chalked it up to someone not wanting the car anymore. how do nuts come off and studs fall out on their own, yet its a total pain in the ass to replace when the threads fuck up
