I have had it with my current company. For any ME's out there, I would never take a construction job if I were you. The hrs fucking blow, the pay is bullshit for the amount of hrs you work, and oh yea, kiss your fucking weekends goodbye. I was lucky on my first project in that I didn't have to work weekends, my luck has run out. I don't mind working a weekend or 2 out of the month, I do mind working 6 days a week every week with it being 7 days every other week. With that said, I am looking around. No, I have not quit yet, but hope to VERY soon. Have another interview with a company tomorrow that gave me an offer a while back. They didn't offer enough money and counter offered more money a couple of weeks ago that matched my current pay, which wasn't exactly what I was looking for. However, based off my current circumstances I am more than willing to accept that now. That and its automotive manufacturing, something an ME would do instead of playing accountant which I am doing right now. Punch line - If any of you guys know of any open ME positions, I am all ears:) . This job may pan out tomorrow or it may not, I just want to keep my options open.

I am gonna be graduating in ME in December, so thanks for the heads up on not going to construction. What company is the auto mannufacturing with?

I think my company is planning on hiring some new engineers. I work as a process unit engineer for a very large oil refinery in St. Croix US Virgin Islands (Hovensa LLC). The pay and hours are great as well as the relocation and housing benefits. It is like 2000 miles from the southeast though. They were at the career fair about 2 weeks ago in AU.

I am still on the AU career placement website and have been throwing resumes around for a couple of months. The problem is that I can't go to job fairs because I have to work. If I could get someone on the phone to talk to, I would more than likely impress them enough from them to bring me in for an onsite interview, which I will take work off for. I think the combination of social skills and knowning EXACTLY what I am after in a company helps me out interview wise. That is one thing I can def. take from this experience is the fact that I DO know what I want now lol.

BTW, the company is Guardian Industries.

Surfstang, any more info on your company? Do you have the ability to throw any resumes around to some people at your job?

I worked for this contract about 4 years ago. Pretty good people and pretty much everyone makes great money. They support NASA at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville.
