Well...a dark day has come. As much as I cling to it for dear life, the Mustang must be sold. At almost $400 a month for car payments and atrocious insurance costs, it's too much for me to afford. Dad is cutting me off next month so I've made my decision. I swore from day one that he'd have to pry the keys from my kung fu grip but the threat of going home to live has convinced me otherwise. Anyways, I'm trying to get hopefully 8 or 9 thousand for it. If anyone knows anyone who is interested, let me know.

In other news, I've pretty much decided on my new car. I'm almost postitive I'm gonna get a 96 or 97 850 Turbo volvo. :D Quite a bit of difference, but for 8 grand what else can I get? The insurance for these are about $110 a month which is HALF what the mustang's is.

If you guys have any other suggestions on what can be had for $8,000 and has as much potential as the 850's do, let me know. All this is gonna go down before May so I've still got some time to shop around.

If you want potential get a dsm or civic hatch with a b18c5, that will run circles around heavy volvos. ( its funny you mentioned volvos having potential) Or you can get a 98 gti vr6, those are quick and fun.

Since you obviously don't care about looks (Volvo  ), just get a 1g DSM. You can get those for dirt cheap, insurance is cheap, and you can make them fast for cheap.

you can do a lot with $8000, i.e. give it to me

Yeah, the only thing though is that I think Drew wants to be able to drive his car every day. Not once a month as the planets align the car decides to start :P

Sure, get a DSM........theres just one problem. They are UNICORNS!!! Yesh. We all know God himself drives DSM's so there is no way your going to find one for $8k. Might as well shoot for the POS Mclaren F1 or some other slow V12 because there is no way you will find one of the last 3 DSM's in the world

haha, you think you know everything. It was SPICY mustard therefore had a darker tone with speckles which in the right lighting shimmer just like a unicorn horn.

I've included 3 pictures. im not quite sure which is which. they all look the same to me

Clean decent condition CRX- $1,500
B16 (160hp)- $2000 (if not less)
Fidanze flywheel and new clutch- $700
Good set of shocks and springs- $800
Good I/H/E setup- $900
Nice set of light weight rims and good tires- $700
New brake rotors, pads, SS brake lines, fluid- $350
All of this totals to less than $7000 which leaves you another grand for unexpected items and general maintence. Or if that doesn't suit you throw in a set of cams and a few extra goodies.

Actually, I DO know everything. Incase you didn't know, I am FRIENDS with an owner of a DSM, I mean, unikorn. You can apologize to me later. About the mustard...spicey can in some ways act like a prizm, reflecting light in many diffferent directions which upon contact with the retina of ones eye could cause dillutions. However, the light is usually toned down due to the nature of the spice, therefore having little effect on ones vision. Now those three pictures. To the untrained eye, one cannot distinguish between them. However, since I have had experience with my brothers, uncles, aunts, nices, cousins, sisters, dog that once smelled the scent of a DSM over in Europe. I am therefore qualified to help out less experienced rookies such as yourself. First one- Obviously a hot dog, I thought even you could figure that out. Second one- Kind of trickey, but the contour of the lines can only mean one thing...DSM. Third one- the trickiest of them all....af first I thought hotdog, then I recongized picture one's traits and realized it couldn't be. Then, I was able to identify the second picture as a DSM. Hence, by the rule of deduction, the third picture can only be that of a UNIKORN!!!! Take careful notes, next time you might have to decifer them on your own

I am adding a custom touch to the word since I have a friend with a DSM. Notice in my first post I spelled it correctly.

No offense to the honda guys but I'd like something a little...larger than a CRX. I'd like to get hit by a truck and walk away. That and IF I die in a volvo, I'd get.......wait, my parents would get a quarter of a million dollars from Volvo so the Lankford clan would at least get a parting gift.

Anyways, an 850 R and the standard 850 Turbo both come with about 230 HP. Then I can add a chip, exhaust and bump up the boost and run 13's on the stock turbo. Then there are the aftermarket turbos....

Personally, I love the styling on the 850's. It would be a helluva sleeper, fully loaded with leather and everything power, enough trunk space to hold 5 dead hookers (or 9 dead midget hookers) :D

As far as the DSM's go, look at kenny's roomate scott's DSM. Its been on blocks for almost a year and a half. They fix somehting then something else mysteriously breaks. Sorry...They have a worse track record than what i'm already driving. :? OB's car is the unicorn for taking a beastly amount of boost with out breaking...but even when he ran at the track in montgomery, they took jerry's trailer "just in case".

OB's car is the unicorn for taking a beastly amount of boost with out breaking...but even when he ran at the track in montgomery, they took jerry's trailer "just in case".

Thats just cause I'm running 11's and over twice the amount of stock crank horespower at the wheels on the stock tranny. And the fact that I don't let the gas off the floor one time until I pass the ET has something to do with it as well. I've put 4K miles on this setup, beating it pretty much daily. Your tranny didn't even hold up on the street to the mods you got. But I appreciate the acknowledgement.

If you are interested, I have one for sale, besides the FWD. I have a '90 Model AWD, only 87K miles, 350 miles on engine (hydrolocked was cause of death) cruise, A/C, power everything for $3750. You might want to jump on the bandwagon though, cause everybody wants this Unicorn, so hurry yo ass up yo and give me some cash! And you can go 12's on stock turbo, fuck that 13's crap! Heres some pics of the car http://community.webshots.com/album/67611860ZteNKo

And that goes for anyone, I got $100 to anyone that sells this car for me. My FWD is sold already, just have to get it delivered next weekend.

TheGuyWithTheMustang

ehhh....the OD band went out. I don't attriubte that to my beating. That's contributed to the 60K miles already on the tranny. The rest of the tranny was still rock solid. I just got the whole thing rebuilt because in 99 ford put higher friction clutch plates and stronger planetary carrier and sun gear.

I have actually given lots of thought into a DSM but all I hear about is this breaking then that breaking. That's the only thing I ever heard justin talking about. He was always bitching about his car. Now all scott does is bitch about his car and he's never even driven the damn thing! I can just forsee myself buying one then it breaking a week later. That's why my dad is kinda in favor of me getting a volvo. They're SOLID. My GF's 1990 240 wagon has 164K miles on it and we just recently replaced the STOCK ignition system. It still runs just as good as it did when it had a THIRD of those miles. Now, her dad's selling the wagon and she's got her mom's 89 740. It's got 112K miles on it and the car literally looks like it just drove off the assembly line. Aside from slightly warped front rotors, the car drives like it just came off the factory line too. 8)

I'll consider a DSM but I'd like a volvo first. Then I can have a weekend play toy :D

BTW, I like the body style of the Lasers better. ( I know I'm picky, but I personally don't really dig the whole hatch covering spoiler) I'd get a "laser" (eventually) if I could find one with low miles that hasn't been thrashed soundly in it's life time.

again ... i am late on this

but you can pick up a 92 Lexus SC 300 stick for prolly fairly cheap.. .under what your price is i beleive

the posetive side to this
its the same engine as the supra NA motor

and even more posetive
the supra TT motor will drop right in with nothing to be done to it

and pretty much everything else for a supra will fit it engine/suspension speaking

check out www.clublexus.com
look in the SC forums... do a search ... there are a few people who have done it

even if you dont want to do a swap
there is a turbo kit available for the 300

all this makes me wanna sell my car and get a 300 model
oh well

Civics... bah.. econoboxes. How many 1984 civics are still floating around daily driven? (*hint.. there are more than a few 70's volvos i know of that get daily beaten.. err driven)

If I were going to drop $8k on a car, I would get a 93 or later 940 turbo (if i went the volvo route) or a 95 or so 240Sx, I hear a faint cry for an El Camino from my buddy Trey, there's a nice H23 'lude going up for sale sooon, you could boost that :D

Fo real dow, I wouldn't mess with the fwd volvo stuff... the transmissions are shite, regardless of what the fwd forum guys say.. anything that can fail between the factory and the dealer (yes, dead off the truck) is to be avoided IMHO.

Stick with the rwd stuff, and if you're really jonesing for the 960 look, put the 960 front end on a 940. 300hp all day, not a whole lot to do, not very expensive

I don't know, I hadn't talked to her in like six months, then I took her out about 3 weeks ago, thats when she told me it was for sale, but I had seen it over there too. Then all the sudden it started having problems again, so I'm sure it'll be back for sale when it gets fixed.

Hey... put it this way... If you get a DSM you have more than enough people in AU that can fix just about anything in it. Almost anywhere you go in the country you'll find a DSM-Head somewhere....

You can't always get free help but, drag a case of beer out to your broken DSM in your driveway and someone driving by will prolly stop and lend a hand :D

Hopefully Jerry's DSM is still for sale. It's got a little mild engine work done to it. Hopefully he'll sell it to me. I've got a sneaky scheme to get both cars I want. I'll get the DSM for when I want to go fast and I'll have a 940 (RWD) turbo to drive when the DSM is broke. :P Sam (Guy who has the turbo'd 240SX says his insurance went DOWN when he put a volvo on there. :D
