Websites created with Flash...questions?

Does anyone have experience with Flash? What is the best way to take an existing site that was created in flash and add to it or modify it? Can I open a Flash site that is online in using Flash MX by pulling the files from the server on which it is hosted...basically the same way 'regular' websites are uploaded and retrieved?

Sorry if this sounds like I am a clown, but I just have never worked with Flash...:eek:

I do some flash... No, you can't just download the files and make changes to them. You have to have the .fla file, which is the "uncompressed/uncompiled" version. If you don't have that, there are some programs online that will attempt to make the .fla from the .swf, but it never works...

no phil you need the actual .FLA file. the files that are live are swf files. they wouldn't load the building files which are fla's. i have built many flash sites and i can tell ya.....you need the fla files (building files) to update or add too the site. that means whoever built the site, you need the files from them.

I always wanted to learn flash I tried to teach myself but It was so damn complicated

It's not that bad, but can be hard keeping track of all the actions going on inside a more complicated movie... Biggest drawback of flash I think (with MX... CS3 may be easier) is the fact that you have to know actionscript to do the really cool stuff.

Haha I use to mess with Flash and Dreamweaver. Made a few StickDeath style cartoons back in high school :D

cs3 is def better with that but it is still an industry program and thats what its made for. flash is not for your average home. unless you hav ehours and hours and hours to understand it.
