Not that anyone cares, but I gotta tell somebody.

As some of the more l33t aSpeed people might know I have almost always had a little problem with tax debt from years and years ago, and also from my time in Auburn being self-employed and not paying my taxes like I should have. I don't have the papers in front of me but just from the time in AU, I racked up a good 30k+ in back-tax debt.

Well, as of the end of this month, I'll be free from that horrible affliction. By mid 2008, me and the wife will be 100% free of debt besides the house. I've been writing out fat checks every month for the past 10 years or so.

Right now, im pretty much living paycheck to paycheck ($100 or so in my checking by the time payday rolls around) and have for quite a while. Once mid 2008 rolls around, I'll have $1000+ more $$ a month in pocket.

I R Excited.

That is all.

R0X0RS.

I was the IRS's bitch for a little while because of not paying enough withholding during the year. Nothing to the tune of 30k, but it was a noticeable amount. The day I got done with having to pay those bastards extra money every month was crazy happy day.

Congrats on getting the man directly out of your wallet every month.

Wow! Absolutely congrats man! This is a big deal and really opens not only a new chapter, but a whole new book in your life! I would hate to be burdened financially. I'm usually ridiculously cheap and have been all about saving hardcore since I was a kid (parents had a lot to do with it). I do splooge from time to time and by something ridiculous and reward myself.

Invest the money that you save, well, at least some of it! Make that money work for you. You'll find the more money that you have, the faster you can make more money, but you know that. I love it.

Hell, my life is about to take a big turn as well. I'm graduating and now it's time for me to get my own place and a real damn job. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to get a house rightaway or if I'll just grab an apartment for a year or whatever. I'd much rather own my own land. I'm just weighing all of the pros and cons while guaging the Nation's economical situations at hand. I dunno, I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'm really looking forward to a steady paycheck so I can build my savings wealth and invest more and have significantly more money to work with in a few years as I'm on my way to becoming rich : ) Anyway, again, a BIG congrats! I know that is a serious weight off of your shoulders!

Well I don't think I've ever met you but congratulations. I know it must feel great knowing you are about to be debt free.

It's awesome. For as long as I can remember I've had at least a good bit of debt. I cut up my credit cards a few years ago but still have a bit to pay off with them but with the IRS out of the way, i'll be able to pay the rest of the little things i.e. Discover, Best Buy, Miata off pretty quickly and then besides the mortgage I'll be 100% debt free. We only owe about $3k on the wife's IS300 so that'll be gone real soon too.

Next year will be my FIRST EVER tax-return where I actually get money back. I've been working full-time since I was 18 so that's 12 years of seeing a big ass minus where a plus was supposed to be on my return. Add in the fact that my wife makes an ass-load, we should have enough $$ to make a big home improvement or afford a nice vacation or do like Trent said and make some investment decisions.

Me and the wife still need to talk to someone about setting up a retirement deal. Im so ready to retire.

Cliffs: debt is bad. Don't live beyond your means. Pay off your credit cards each month. :)

Congrats man. I know it's an awesome feeling because I just did the same thing. It wasn't due to the IRS, instead I racked up a ton of credit card debt when I was younger. I think my peak unsecured debt was around 18k with about a 20% interest rate on roughly 60% of it.:emo:

I've now paid off all my cards and my final little loan will be paid off at the end of this month. After all my expenses (rent, utilities, insurance, savings, investment account, food, gas and cell phone) I'm now walking away with about $1,500-$1,700 per month of pure throw away money. It fucking rocks. :D

eh I am tired of coding. We are hopefully gonna be moving in 16-24 months so maybe a non-computer job that sounds interesting will pop up so I can change careers. Coding 8hrs a day for uh...like 9 years now takes its toll.
