Anyone have any information on the new dyno/shop in Opelika? I've heard they were named APR but I am not 100% sure on it. Any information would be great. They are supposed to have a 18,000 sq ft building with 3 dynos?

LOL why so we can all get a good laugh? :D I wonder if they tune LT1s? Anyone have information on the owners or people working there? I would like to get in contact with some decision makers.

I already know that there Dynos are not open to the public, and they are German tuners. Im asking because my Firm is looking to get into contact with them, and we are pretty selective about who we represent. So background info is what I am after. More business related then what they have done.

LMAO!!! VWs and OUCH DEEZ NUTS where far from performance cars when I was in High School. BTW those Kraut Kids are still gay. :happyFU:

When you say they are R/D you don't mean directly affiliated do you? Aren't they just an aftermarket shop for kraut?

EDIT:APR, LLC. is not affiliated with or endorsed by Volkswagen AG or Volkswagen of America. Volkswagen ®, VW ®, Golf®, Jetta®, and Beetle® are trademarks of Volkswagen AG. While we try to keep everything current, APR, Inc. is not responsible for errors in pricing on this web site. All prices are for the North American market only

What kind of background info are you looking for?

Company background, owners names, are they currently represnted by a PR/Advertising firm. Who is in charge at the new facilities.

Only the best from the internet forums?

I don't think APR does much promotion locally- they don't need to. And probably most of all, they don't want to be bothered by t00n3rs.

Aftermarket firm exclusively for Audi's, Porsche's, and VW's... with some Seat's, Skoda's, and Bentley's thrown into the mix.

As far as a advertising firm/agency, they do nothing locally and promote through magazines and sponsoring car shows (not to mention showing up at any decent sized Audi/VW/Porsche show).

It's also not a new company, it's been around for... 8-10yrs now? Others could chime in better on that, I'm only an EE monkey there

Charlie I'm just gathering information to see if we want to approach them. Believe it or not there are actually people on internet forums that have information, and not just snide remarks. I am mearly trying to find out what they do, and who they do it for, and who if anyone works with them to achieve that.

As far as local promotion goes I doubt they would need much more then the website they currently use. They appear to have strong market presence as is. I'm thinking more on the PR front, and in larger arenas then some flyers stapled to a phone pole. However I don't know much about there business goals, or wants so I couldn't say for sure what they are after. Good thing there are people here on aSpeed who work for them that might can shed some light on that for me.

You realize their contact info is on their website right? 1.8t > LT1. :happyFU:

I realize that there number in on there site. Thanks for your incite. Somehow I thought that I might learn a little more from aSpeed. However all I've learned here is that they R/D (officially or not officially) VWs, Audis, and Porsches, there dyno isn't public, and they cannot be bothered by customers. Stephen and Brett have last names?

Oh and that you think 180hp@5500 and 173lbft@1950 > 285hp@5000 and 325 ftlbs@2400 :happyFU:.

Instead of trying to get insider information. I'd call them and present yourself in a professional manner, tell them who you work for and invite them to lunch. You'd get a lot better information out of them while opening the door for a long-term relationship. This is also where you assess their needs, who the decision makers are, and if it's even worth it to you.

Cause now you're seen as "the guy on the internet who's trying to get information about us." I do realize you're trying to get some background information, but simple searches for their website and hoovers could probably cover your initial prospecting needs.

Im not the one calling them, or presenting to them. I just wanted some information about them, and thought "who better to ask then there very customers and employees." People here whose opinion I respect because they know there stuff, and are not duped by marketing pitches or anything of the like.

I don't mind being the guy trying to get information. Its just information that is passed on from person to person. That is why places like this exist isn't it? I could have read there marketing stuff but it is always better to get the straight dope, as opposed to the flashy packaging.

It's not like I'm trying to get there financial, or some other private information. Its fine, I will know better then to ask about something like on aSpeed next time. For some reason I thought I would get a easy straight answer from someone who knows, rather then a LT1 hate fest, and free business advice.

Too bad the kraut 4bangers will eat that V8 ass....:2xFU: lol

LOL! Yep thats why they are so widely used in NHRA cars!:2xFU: I'm not knocking 1.8Ts or any other 4 cyl. They can be made into great little powerhouses. I know that I see it all the time on this board, and a few times when I am out at the track I even see one or two low 12 sec or faster 4 cylinders.

A lot of our clients also have in house PR/Advertising persons/departments. I think its a good idea to have your own in house graphics, and even marketing departments. Unfortunately its sometimes easier/cheaper to pay an outside firm to do that kinda stuff while you focus on what you do best. Also if you only make one or two ads a month its kinda waistful to carry a full time employee much less a department to do that.

Kinda like why pay a weekly salary to have the mexican food resturant make you a steak when you want one. (even though the steak maybe good from there) When you can buy a steak when you want/need one and get it from the steak house that specializes in it. I dunno if you follow that or not...

I'd like to see how this ends up btw. Take my advice as you wish.

You're looking for wants and goals on a local forum which has a few people who deal/work with APR. You obviously didn't do any searching whatsoever before you posted, Example: title, and you're going about it in a less than professional way. Do any other firms ask forums about companies needs, who owns it etc? No, they figure it out by going to them or searching.

I take it you're doing the behind the scenes action for someone else since you said you won't be calling/presenting and that was the first mistake.... they should be doing it themselves so they are fully prepared and know the info is accurate.

And last, tell me how the members who do work at APR are going to know or even be in a position to divulge the information you're looking for

You are right I should have never asked on a forum, I am a member of, that consist of members who both use, and work for a company, that I would like to know about.

There is nothing wrong asking questions, Im not making some sorta formal inquiry into them. I just wanted to know some general information, that one or plenty more of my fellow board members could possibly know, and share with me.

Can any one tell me about Walker Dyno? Everyone would say "Well, Blake owns it, its in Trussville, and so and so helps him sometimes. Etc. Its not some super secret. Is he looking to open another dyno? No its just a side business to his main business. etc etc etc....

I take it you're doing the behind the scenes action for someone else since you said you won't be calling/presenting and that was the first mistake.... they should be doing it themselves so they are fully prepared and know the info is accurate.

This certainly would not be all the information that they would take into a meeting with them. We haven't been around as long as we have been, or earned the respect we have gotten over the years by being unprepared.

The kind of incite that we can learn for people on a board like this is very valuable. Kinda like a study group. We could have learned they are scammers, that they have very little know how, that they overcharge etc etc.

I did learn today that they advertise in magazines, have displays at trade shows, and events. They currently house there own in house advertising and PR. Thats good information.

I even got the website address. (Which when googled: APR Opelika, AL doesn't turn without a bit a digging, and since he wasn't sure if that was the name I thought I would ask you guys.) Im glad I did cause sure enough you all had the site.

And last, tell me how the members who do work at APR are going to know or even be in a position to divulge the information you're looking for

I know the direction of our company, the company I worked for before this, and the one before that. I even think its in a handbook for the first two. The company history is on our website, as well as contact information etc. Its easy to find. I did not see that information on there site. Maybe I missed it.

Thank you for the free business advice. You can bet I will NOT ask aSpeed again for information on any business that any of the members here might use, or work for. My bad.

Yeah I know there are people on here that work for APR but maybe a PM or two would have been better placed than a thread asking for information. I see the networking point of view of "I know these guys are on this forum I frequent" but it just comes off as sketch.

The people that are on here from APR do not represent themselves as Blah@APR or APR_Blah like they do at on VWVortex, AudiWorld, and other VAG specific boards. They come here because they want to not because they are working. I'd leave queries about their place of employment out of the public forums for that reason.

Good luck finding and cultivating new clients.

ok....funny as shit.....i went to work late today and noticed that there was a red RS6....im thinking wow...somebody around here got taste...but then I realized something, shops surrounding us havent opened up yet, so that means the owner is probably at the Spa and is a chick. I took a quick glance and saw some APR exhaust....now Im really intrigued. I went into the spa and asked the if any of the ladies were driving the RS6. A middle age lady said yeah that was her. She goes on and tell me how it has chip and apr exhaust put on since she ordered it new from Atlanta....not to mention the APR guys are renting out their new facility from her!!! Damn nice! Also funny how she said she smokes a lot of ricer that tried to race her on the street....hahahaha...

We rent from her husband now, not at the new building which we own. The tag on the car was "SORED"?? That is the car we developed the software and exhaust on... Her husband was going to get an E55 when told him about the RS6 and he was intriged.
