Wondering mostly because it will open up more options for a tire choice...

I have my parent's Sears card and they are all the way over in Korea so it'll be a long time before they would find out. So I'd rather get "free" tires at Sears than use my money and order some.

As far a performance goes, would getting the stock size (205/55 16) be any different from getting a wider size (225/50 16) ?

Jimmy how wide are your rims? In inches. That will have a larger affect whether to get wider tires.

16''x 6'' Seems kinda small to me, but that's what the manual said.

225 is too wide for a 6" rim. Yes you could mount them on there but there would be alot of tire overhang which would lead to sloppy handling. It also changes the tires stress points (work in a tire shop and was reading about it in one of our magazines) which isn't good. In fact since it has to constrict to the smaller rim the contact patch is actually decreased as well since the tire has to take a more rounded shape to mount properly (not that you would notice).

Besides you run Azenis correct? They are a very wide tire. Even though they say 205 they are more like alot of companies 215's. By the way I have 6" rims as well and I've never heard of an R owner wearing 225's. Heck some of them even debate about 205's feeling a little sloppy compared to 195's. I'd stick with your current tire size.

For hopefully obvious reasons, a wider tire will almost always be better, except in rain/snow etc. However the car must be set up properly for whatever size tires you're running and it should be running on properly sized wheels.

I kinda doubt that your wheels are only 6" wide, that seems a bit narrow for a heavy performance car, but I'm just guessing.
