Just so people don't get bigheaded with their mad VTEC skillz.
1. Torque. What's that?
2. FWD sucks. AWD and RWD are way better suited to handling since traction is gained under accleration instead of taken away.
3. Speed per dollar sucks big time. It takes thousands of dollars to get our cars into the twelves on street tires. An automatic Z28 can get a high stall torque converter and hand almost any street tired honda his ass at the strip.
4. The turbo kits for our cars . Yeah they make good peak power but there characteristics suck. Nice linearity :roll: . Half the kits don't even reach full boost until almost VTEC and when they do the street tires on our cars can't hold the power worth a crap. Yeah you can make'em work and be fast as crap but with the same money you get alot more out of comparable sports cars.
By the way this is Brock. I'm just making sure everyone is still in reality land and knows the good and bad points of their cars.

well i will say something and i knwo my car isnt fast... first of all a z28 and a honda anything but the nsx isnt even in the same class.... why do you think they make classes... they have a class for mini's and excluding the new one they top out at like 65 or something (i dont really know exactly but they are slow)... therefore racing a honda verses a honda is logical or atleast something in its class.... see what im getting at... everytime someone says imports are retarded all i got to do is buy a this and do a $40 mod and i can kick your asss all over town.... all i must say is there is classes for a reason and some people like to mod out and race hondas and the sort and ive even seen a vw bug class and they arent fast at all (speaking of the old ones btw)... get it? or should i try to explain classes again...
im sure you knwo what classes are anyways but im just making a point

you know active is brock right? he just means "fast" in general, not in class. i mean you can be fast in your class but what it all boils down to is "exactly how fast are you?" thats what really matters,..... overall.

I know exactly what you are talking about and I'm not really looking down on the big H. The R is plenty capable of handing many RWD/AWD cars that have torque there ass on the right track. Honda knows what they are doing and I have yet to find a car as fun as mine to drive for the money. What I am saying though is that if the R was a RWD turbo with about 200lb/ft tuned with the same spirit as mine it would even more of a car than it already is.

I'd take a Type R over pretty much anything to have as a track car...Well, maybe a Euro-Spec E36 M3 would be my first choice :twisted: ...But the R would be close.

I would also like to add something to the list as well.
VTEC is not complicated and no it does not take the place of a turbo. All it allows Hondas to do is run two different cam profiles - that's it. VTEC is not the first form of variable cam profiles. VTEC is probably one of the least advanced forms of variable cam profiles. Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford, BMW, and many other companies have forms of VTEC.
Three reasons VTEC is known so well:
1. Honda advertised it.
2. Honda came out with the first reliable and well working system.
3. All the rice boyz say, "j00 got VTEC??"

I feel you on the point Brock. With respect to German cars, show me a mod for my Honda that is as much as a bang for the buck as chipping any of the 1.8t's... There is nothing that i can spend $500 on and get the same gains. I could a Greddy header for $500 but the gains would be nothing alike. Yeah, but thats comparing NA to a turbo system which isn't fair to the NA vehicle. Most European NA vehicles see a moderate gain from an aftermarket chip. For instance, the 2.8L V6 in the A4 gains ~10hp and 13 ft/lbs of torque from a GIAC aftermarket chip ($350). From what I understand, a chip for a Honda does basically nothing unless you have other supporting mods to tune for.

Yeah I feel your pain, but Hondas are fun cars. For the price that you pay for one new or used you really can?t beat it. Sure, if I were looking for a true sports car I would not get a Honda, but a love my toy and that is all that matters to me!

I have a spoon program ecu. Vtec cuts on at 4500rpm and it has increased fuel maps, oh and no redline :shock: I found that out myself.
cheap mod= NNAAAAWWSSS, its 500 bucks. just dont run a big shot.
To me, N02 is cheater gas..........yes, run what you brung and all of that other associated garbage, but the fact of the matter is...........the bottle is limited, eventually you will run out and be slow again. I understand that with some cars, no2 is almost the only way to go since there is little aftermarket support, but I feel that everyone should at least make an attempt at bolt ons before turning to the bottle. With that said, I doubt n02 will ever find its way onto my car, the only way it might is a 35shot for when I am out of boost with a stg.3

true, true. Honda has really taken this import tuning by storm. They probably have the overall, as a company, most aftermarket support. So many parts can be mix and matched to further customize your ri(d)(c)e (you chose between the "d" and the "c") for so cheap that its affordable to anyone who wants to be in the game. Thats why you have so many people with hondas and then there are the people who have just an exhaust on an EX Civic and tell stories about beating a GT Mustang :roll: . Its all a combination of marketing, durability, affordability, and trying to fit in with another American sub-culture. I could babble on but chose not to.

now i know you might wonder but in my 87 CRX (aka tin can on wheels) i beat several tangs of the line and yes they tried but of course they werent long races and i did drive a tin can so my acc. was waaay faster and they prolly didnt know how to dirve their car.... but i STILL beat them from light to light back in chatt town with NO mods so HA! :) :D :lol: :? :( :x :evil: :twisted: b .... you dont believe me do you.... well beieve what you want...

well i saw Kyle beat Scott Gladney in his Mustang and it was a true race. Kyle did not have any mods either, he just out drove him. The 'stang was a V6 5spd. But did you ever beat any GTs?? I would have to see it to belive it Blake. I did not think you got into the street racing scene until you got down here.

i didnt get into fixing up cars and actually doing stuff till i met you guys but before that i always drove like i wanted to race and hell you should have seen me in the crx i loved that car i pretty muched raced it home everyday and to school everymorning... id try to race cars whenever i felt like it and i always loved the cars that had mods on them i always loked at the old hotrods though with the big blocks and the blowers and pimpin jobs they did on them but didnt get into import fixing up and what not till i came here... you guys opened my eyes..... oh and to answer your question i think i did race a gt once or twice but i never really looked to see what they were just spank them within 100 yards and off the line so i dont knwo if any were GTs though i think atleast one was...

I'm not a bottle of liquor now. However, I do have this brand new white bikini that really hasn't seen any action yet, since I waited until the end of the summer to buy it. It isn't a thong, but it is quite tiny.

a stock CRX vs a GT Mustang... And you beat it off the line... Hmm, okay buddy... Off the line is a TQ battle and you mean to tell me that a CRX with something like 85lbs/TQ beat American muscle?? I find that hard to belive. Very rare is it that i see a Honda beat a GT off the line. I am not saying that it does not happen. But the races i have seen where the Honda won was made up in the top end. My assuption is that they were not actually racing. Just coming off the line hard. I want to see you race a 'Stang off the line in the Teg and spank him within the first 100 yards. :roll:

well dude im not saying that they are great racers or even good ones but you also got to remember its an 87 CRX the thing weighs nothing i can pick it and the 85 ftlb T happen to be enough im guessing since it happened :) i guess you would have to see it though... :)
