The only issue I have ever had with Vengeance is getting them on the phone. Every email I have ever written has been answered ASAP and all issues have been resolved. I am going to pick my car up tomorrow from Vengeance with a brand new motor. My previous motor had a piston come apart which scarred up the cylinder walls as well as the crank. The motor was looked at by at least 4 different individuals including the original engine builder who determined the failure was a material defect. When a wait time of three weeks was figured for a rebuild Vengeance decided to just get a new, off the shelf motor to put back in my car. I would say that's pretty good customer service.
And all of this was warrantied.

and fwiw i'm not siding with anyone in that shitfest, as is normal on t3h intarwebz, the truth probably lies somewhere in between & at least they publicly offered to correct the issue.
Last time I had a problem with after market parts, the place I got em from said "We've never heard of that, you must have done something wrong". Didn't even ask for anything, just called em to point out a potential problem.

The things I don’t like about it are, they claim he was bouncing off the limiter in an automatic car. Them being lazy and telling him to drill a hole in the t/b instead of getting off their ass and actually tuning the car, and him breaking rockers and heads. After the first rocker/head broke the valvetrain geometry should have been revaluated. And I have never cared for Rons attitude.
Mike, I wouldn't worry about it, since you know Greg... from what I have heard he is like royalty around ther so you should be in good hands.
I didnt post this to knock vengence, I had just talk with other members about them in the past on here and figured they might be intrested. If nothing else it might get the other mike going! :)

man that sucks for all involved. no offense to anybody at vengeance or any of their friends, and infact i thought about them tuning my car, but that was until i met ron at muscle car evo. I briefly talked with him for about 10 minutes and realized he was truly a dumbass. he came across in our brief speaking of a crook, but once again this was my first impression of him, and i may be totally wrong, but my first impressions usually turn out to be true. his cammed and stalled TBSS running stock numbers? there was a good showing from vengeance. they brought several customer cars down there. The GTO did run very well. However, everybody else that came out was a embarassment. A C6ZO6 with headers, tune, and at least a 100 shot ran a 12.8x??? or how about when the same driver burnt the clutch up instead of the tires. that was too funny... or how about the silverado they brought down with i guess a LS6 and T56 and the driver spun tires for the first 330ft, tearing up the track for everybody else, then backingg out of it and taking 26 secs to go 1/4 of a mile. i understand they can't control how the owners drive their cars, but i wouldn't put my name on anything that people would laugh at and would bring embarassment to me.

As with any business, the more money you spend the more attention gets put on your product. I have spent a good amount of money with them and my car is one of few daily drivable, pump gas, N/A cars that were around when it was built. It was at the time the most powerful Fast 90 car Vengeance had built, not sure about now, so I got more attention than some other cars did. Now I have had issues and I think it was partly due to insufficient cooling but they have fixed it and the only out of pocket expense I am incurring is the cam swap I asked them to do. I don't feel like they owe me anything. I told them to build a max effort motor the first time so now when I want something a little milder I am willing to pay for it. They have gone above and beyond, adding a few things here and there that I didn't ask for when it would make my setup a little better and safer and not charging me for it. I would recommend anyone get work done there as the people who have problems seem to be few and far between.

greg, what kind of warranty are you getting on the new motor?
Vetteman2003
04-18-2008, 12:59 AM
I will have the remainder of the one year warranty I had before, so none. I am sure that if something were to happen when I am shortly out of warranty that I won't get stiffed. I am not too worried though because the failure seems to have been due to a material defect not human error. I am going to get the motor broken in quickly so I can find any problems before the warranty period has expired.

Sure thing.
I am actually glad you posted this thread. EVERY shop has dirt on them. I scoured the internet like Brock researching Ron Paul statistics trying to find some dirt on them and couldn't find anything. It seems, including this story, that 99% of their customers are very happy with them. That said, I am a bit supersticious and a pretty cautious person in general when it comes to certain things. Sometimes it can be a bit overbearing, but I know it is what has kept all my rides mechancially reliable while still providing the fun factor I expect of them. This story did start out 2 years ago and it is painfully obvious this owner knows pretty much nothing about his car. You combine that knowledge with the fact that he had a pretty aggressive build and its only a recipe for disaster. I would only assume that Vengeance has become quite good at what they do over the past 2 years, but I have some decisions to make.
Kudos again for making this post.

That story sounds sketchy. I didn't read the rest of the thread, but not sure how a cylinder head breaks off a chunk. The guy is complaining about not getting much ET improvement, but also sounds like he knows little about cars so maybe he just sucks. I also am skeptical that he bought a nitrous setup but 'never used it'.

very true. That throws some suspicion out there for sure. Looks like they are having trouble keeping engines running right though:confused: maybe I have just been around gregs and now here this.
Gregs wasn't built by Vengeance. It was built by another big name in the LSX world and Vengeance just did the install/tune. The reason why the original engine builder is completely warranty'ing Gregs motor is because they could find NO signs of detonation. I spoke to Vengeance at length about Gregs motor(hope you didn't mind Greg)

I never realized that the motor wasn't built by vengeance. Maybe I miss interpreted Greg. Although I do remember Greg saying that they had to wait on the motor to ship out.

No worries. My motor was not built by Vengeance. At the time they didn't build their own motors so a very reputable engine builder put it together for me. Last I heard Vengeance has hired an engine builder to do everything in house. It should speed up the process and lower costs a bit. The new motor was an off the shelf motor that was sent out at the request of Ron at Vengeance. I will be leaving right at 12:00 to go to ATL to get the car.
Here is the latest dyno graph with the most recent dyno graph from the previous motor overlayed. The new curve is the red one.

Photoshop! Torque and HP don't intersect at 5252RPM.
Obike = sarcasm.
Greg, how much more tame is your latest cam? Based off of what I see, I would think your car would put down better 1/4 mile times with the "tamer" cam as apposed to the "large" one.

I am really looking forward to driving the car now. It has about 47 ft-lbs more torque at 3300rpm than it did before which should make it even more fun on the street. I expect traction will be more of an issue now because of the higher initial values of power and torque. We will just have to see. I will be getting the car back in just a little while. I am waiting on Mike to get done with some wedding stuff then we are going to head up there.

If you really wanted dirt, all you had to do was ask and I coulda filled a dump truck with it. But its all the same theres two sides to every story. Anyway if I wanted someone to work on my lsx and Ron wasnt working there I would probably take it to vengence.
Feel free to PM me more "dirt" on Vengeance.

Greg just left about 1 hour ago. We drove the car around for a while and I must say even with 3/4 throttle it feels stronger all around. The car even behaves better and over all driveability has really improved. He and I briefly cruised over to where Ginny's little brother was and he took him for a little oh shit ride...car is very healthy and Ginny's little brother can attest to that.
On the way back from Vengeance Greg had a dude on a 1000R V-twin Kawasaki or some shit messing with him. We cleared out a little room for them to run and watched the surprised look on the floored 1000R when he did nothing more than get left.
Color me surprised and so was Greg... the guy on the bike was shaking his head like WTF and so were we because we all thought the bike would have left him. I was really surpised to find out that Greg had only been 3/4 throttle the entire time and granny shifting it. All in all the car is strong.

I'm glad you enjoyed your ride. The car is running very well. It feels much stronger in the low rpm range. I can't really comment on how it feels in the higher rpms (above 5000) because I'm trying to stay away from that until I put about 500 miles on it and get an oil change. Overall I am very happy with the way the car is running and as soon as I can get some miles on her I will be wanting to get some good #s down in the Gump.
