I want to redo the site because it looks bad, in addition to changing the name. This will be for my electronic media class (website design stuff). I want the site to look cool, clean and professional. Im tired of looking at the frontpage everyday.

well clint. i'll tell ya this. if you remember thats what i was gonna do in my electronic media class......but.......time is a major part of that class and you will be pissing your pants trying to finish everything. i don't know how your proffessor will be but prof. wang was hell on earth. if you do it good luck. sounds cool to me.

btw: i'm all for changing the name.

Go for it....

But, as Brock said.... Keep it a decent size...

Avg. rule for webdesign is to keep it under 45k for a frontpage.

Look at some of the most successful sites on the web and you'll see how small they keep their frontpages.

Google - 12.9k
Yahoo - 36k (w/out Flash Ad's) 86k (with)

Curent Site:
SCAR (Discussion) - 47k
SCAR (Front) - 44k (Minus the drift GIF)

Although a bunch of sites are bulking up recently I still enjoy a bit of thin front-end approach.
