I made one pass at Steele tonight. I ran a best 13.7 @ 107mph. I am headed back Sunday to make more passes and get my launch down on these new tires (I bogged just a little off the line turning out a 2.44 60ft.).

Nice run. What kind of tires are you running?

How do you like those 512's? I used to have a set of 502's.

I used to slip the clutch at about 4500 off the line and get a good launch on my old stockies. I did the same on these new tires last night and hooked like a mofo off the line (with a little bog, nothing major although it did effect my 60ft.) The 1-2 shift is still killing my times. On the street, that shift didn't seem that bad. I did lower the tire pressure and all. I think I will try to hyper inflate my rear tires and see if that helps. I am headed back to Steele Sunday to work on my launch. They are also great in the twisties.

You have a 12 sec car with traction.

I wish I knew more ppl like us that had slicks or radials. I would love to borrow some for a run or two, or maybe even buy them used if I knew the person well enough. I just don't feel like buying another set of rims and anothers set of tires(slicks/radials) right now. I am going to practice with these tires for now.

Brock - do you break the tires loose on the 1-2 shift. If so, what can be done to stop that? That is about the only thing killing my times. Thanks!

If you are pulling 2.4 60' times spinning from 1-2 isn't the only thing thats killing you. You should be able to pull a 2.1 if not a 2.2 at least.

Granted my car doesn't have traction issues like yours so spinning from 1-2 isn't really a problem. When shifting from 1-2 don't slam it full throttle. Shift giving it half throttle until you have traction.

Didn't have problems with it Sunday. I pulled consistent 2.2 60ft. on street tires. Never pulled an 8 second pass in the 1/8th though.

With that trap speed you should be pulling mid 8's in the 1/8mi. Just for reference I run a 8.8@81mph.

You don't know how many conversation I have had that started off with these words.

Wanna swap trannies? :D

Why would you want to swap trannies to shorter gearing on a turbo motor? :?

I would do anything for a limited slip diff.

That is good. Last time I priced one, it was $400.

Brock - what kind of 60fts. do you pull usually?

I got to the point were I could pull 2.1's pretty frequently. Personal best is a 2.05 backed with a 2.08 and that's without any track prep (no traction compound). On street tires of course. 8)

I went to the track a while back with my new clutch and flywheel and was only able to pull a 2.2. I just need some more practice with it since it of course reacts differently now.

Do you consider drag radials street tires?

Do you consider drag radials street tires?

No. I run on Potenza SO-3's which are very far from drag tires (VERY stiff sidewalls).
