why the new name? I intentionally left Auburn out of the name because when everthing first started, there were people that came from Colubus, Montgomery and Atlanta to check us out. Also i did not want to be confused with A.E.R.C. seeing that we were something similar. Just my 2 cents though.

i think the name change is ok jsut because i think we have kinda outgrown the name scar. scar to me says show cars, and thats really not we are about....or i don't think so.
not to say it has to have the word auburn in it but i think we need to have alittle more of a professional name. just my 2
i dunno if the word 'racing' even fits. 'enthusiasts' would probably be better.

how does SCAR sound like show cars when nothing in the name says show? Aspeed sounds like the name of a Power Rangers vehicle. "Everyone, to the Aspeed!!" :P Its a joke, but in my opinion, i think it should be left alone. The name is too well known, too established, and too well invested to go and revamp everything. "If it aint broke then dont fix it." I could see if we were trying to branch off and go another direction from another group but our group is so well rounded and level headed that there is no need to shake things up. After time the name Aspeed will become outdated and then what? Take on another name? I think we should stick with what we have because it works and is still working. Alot of us that are part of the clique now and were there for the begining are now seniors. Who knows what the future of this club will hold. To change something that is already is established and then leave it be will put all the past ground work that was laid to zero. That is part of the reason i left the title general. Most people that come out weed themselves out. We do not need to do it ourselves. Maybe the club has progressed since its beginnings and is now moving in a different direction. But those actions can be shown through what we do and who we are. Not in a name change. Not to lose that, that has already been accoplished. I say leave the name. The logo is still fairly modern and our image as a collective whole is diverse and complete. We have a wide array of cars all with different characteristics and strengths as well as the enthusiasts that bring so much charater to the group. That is our signature and what people associate SCAR with. That is who we are and that is what i dont want to lose.

hmmm, I think I am getting a bit confused at to what is going on.
What is the main reason for changing the name and revamping a logo. Is this a consensus among most of the ppl associated with the tuesday night bunch, or is it lets show off our design skills :P . I can see sometimes that SCAR sounds a bit funny, but again I see Aspeed could be a bit wierd at times. I like the logo that clint and mike came up with, but I have also seen some nice logos for the SCAR thing. I for one dont really care what everyone calls it, I personally call it tuesday night. So maybe we can call it the tuesday night gang (TNG). I guess what I want to know is the reason behind all of this...did something happen of which I am unaware.
Lets just get it all out in the open. :D

I wanted to redo a website for my class. If you guys dont want to change thats fine. Im just gonna make a nice website that is professional looking, for my portfolio, that will help me get a job when i get out of school. I thought i could do this site and revamp it. I dont like the word scar. It also dosent sound like a club, just an idea. I still want to put our cars on my new site im going to do.
I dont think we have laid much "groundwork". all of the new people that come to the meets are either in AERC or are superRicers. Im trying to think ahead. I want this club to have classy cars, and cool members. I want to show people that we are serious about performance and dont like rice shit. I just thought SCAR sounded amateur. I dunno. Alot of the aerc guys snicker when they say "Did you go to the SCAR meeting?"
I hope I didnt offend you for wanting a change chappy, because thats totally not what I wanted. We can have a vote for the name change if there is conflict, and thats cool. If everyone wants to keep it the same, i will go with it, and change my logo to say scar. Or just do my site for school and not change this one.

i don't won't to hurt anyones feelings here. i don't think it should but if we have,... sorry.
i just think that scar sounds a little ....how do i say... ricey (show). that is for lack of better term. i know this will be uneasy to understand but when you are in graphic design, a certain quality is taught to you about logos, company identities and just the overall aspect of what you are trying to display. having said that, i see nothing wrong with changing the logo and name of the club. i don't see why we can't just do this and keep the cool cars and people we have. anyways what eva

I have thought this all along.
Honestly, it won't matter if we change our name to Team Knightmare. It won't hurt the crowd the comes out on Tues. nights, b/c they are only there for Tues. nights. They don't participate in "SCAR" activites and if they do it's by word of mouth. The other people that do visit the SCAR board, are in the know and a goup of close-knit guys that won't be left in the dark if the name is changed.
I think the club has come a long way since it's beginning, and I think the name change to something that's more professional could draw a larger more racing oriented crowd.
If we do a name change, then we should make it obvious to everyone. In everything from posting all over the site and BB to printing up fliers to hand out at the meetings with the new name and website. Hopefully that way, if someone has the website addy on a piece of paper they are more likely to look it up, than just forget the website and never go to it.
One other thing, I think needs to be discussed. I'm not picking out names and not trying to step on peoples toes when I say this. I feel that when SCAR is changed to aSpeed or whatever everyone agrees on, then people shouldn't put big gawdy aSpeed stickers all over there car. I understand it's there car, and I understand we can't do anything about it if they want huge stickers on it. But we can look down upon it and not invite them to become a member.
If we are trying to make the website, name, and logo more professional lets show that in public as well.

first of all, the stickers are not even an issue. No one now has a SCAR sticker. My point is is that by changing the name, and starting over, you are doing the opposite of what you are attempting to accomplish. The name SCAR is already established and the Tuesday night meetings now a part of Auburn's nightlife. To go from a name that people can associate with to something that is new is taking a step backwards in my opinion. The AERC people snicker at anything at anything and everything that is not apart of them. Thats nothing new. So whether or not we are called SCAR, The Really, Really Fast Club, or whatever the name will be, they are going to snicker. Is a rose by any other name not still a rose? Is a great white shark by any other name not still as deadly? It does not matter what you call it, its still the same. With a name change does not change what kind of people come out to the meetings. This is Auburn, Alabma. The market is small here. All people want is a place to hang out where there are others there with common goals. That is what SCAR is about no matter what the name is. The group survives on word of mouth and by changing from an established name to a new one would defeat that purpose. My feelings arent hurt and no love is lost. I am actually enjoying the discussion and hearing everyone's opinion. Friendship goes deeper than a discussion of the name of a group. :P
